    Holy Gospel Luke 12:3540

    P The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke, the twelfth chapter.

    [Jesus said:] Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, and be like men who

    are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the

    door to him at once when he comes and knocks.

    Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you,

    he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve

    them. If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them awake, blessed arethose servants! But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief

    was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken into. You also must be ready, forthe Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

    P This is the Gospel of the Lord.

    Nicene Creed

    C I believe in one God,

    the Father Almighty,

    maker of heaven and earth

    and of all things visible and invisible.

    And in one Lord Jesus Christ,

    the only-begotten Son of God,

    begotten of His Father before all worlds,

    God of God, Light of Light,

    very God of very God,

    begotten, not made,

    being of one substance with the Father,

    by whom all things were made;

    who for us men and for our salvation came down from heavenand was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary

    and was made man;

    - 8 -

    and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate.

    He suffered and was buried.

    And the third day He rose again according to the Scripture

    and ascended into heaven

    and sits at the right hand of the Father.

    And He will come again with glory to judge both the living whose kingdom will have no end.

    And I believe in the Holy Spirit,

    the Lord and giver of life,

    who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

    who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and

    who spoke by the prophets.

    And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church,

    I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins,

    and I look for the resurrection of the deadand the lifeTTTT of the world to come. Amen
