Music AcademyThis will be an intensive week long course where you willreceive professional tuition on song writing, DJ-ing, MC-ing and performance skills in order to perform live onstage at the end of the week.

The Music Academy at The Riverfront runs throughout theyear and nurtures new and emerging local talent withprofessional guidance and tuition. The Academy helpsartists to explore their musical talents and gives them aplatform on which to showcase these talents.

The Music Academy is supported by Legal & General.

Acrobatic GymnasticsHave fun and learn the basics of acrobaticgymnastics through choreographed balance,tempo and combined routines led by a qualifiedinstructor in a safe environment.

Active Newport Junior GymGet involved in a more enjoyable way to exercisewith friends to improve your functional fitness.You can take part in fitness challenges on yourown or as part of a team. This type of exercisewill develop your stamina, strength, flexibility,power, speed, agility, balance and co-ordination.Suitable for Young people aged between 11-25years.

American FootballWhy not come and try American Football for thefirst time with elite academy coaches and maybetry out for the team. Helmets and Shoulder Padsprovided, bring trainers, football boots and a gumshield. Session is led by the Welsh TomahawksClub.

Cycle TotsA great introduction to cycling. Try our excellentbikes or bring your own, build confidence andability in a fun and safe environment.

Disability Swim TasterSession available for children to experiencesensation in water or to develop swim skillsalready learnt in lessons or school. Helpers will beavailable in the water to help deliver the sessionsand support children as/when necessary.

DucklingsThis is aimed at children aged 4 years and olderwho are currently not in swim lessons. Thiscourse is an introduction to the waterenvironment, increasing children's confidence andlearning aquatic skills. 5 day course.

Family GamesBoard games for the whole family to play. N.B.This is a parent led activity in your local library.

Family Pool Party TasterAll the fun of a party with inflatables, music andpool toys. This is a family only session, a familyticket is required. Ratio of 1 adult: 3 children or2 adults: 2 children. Please note adult supervisionguidelines apply.

Flip ‘n’ FunThese sessions have been created for childrenwho want to try diving, encouraging correctdiving skills within a safe and fun environment.Aimed at children to encourage agility, co-ordination and balance, using children’s positiveenergy to increase their awareness in the water -children must be able to swim 50m and beconfident in deep water.

Free SwimFree Swim for those children 0-16 years whohave a free swim card. For children under 8 childsupervision guidelines apply.

GymnasticsCome along and learn how to walk the beam orvolt off a trampet or maybe perform a floorroutine? Session is led by coaches from BettwsGymnastics Club.

Holiday ClubProvides child care for children aged 5-12 years.Action packed activity days including sports, arts,crafts, theme days and play activities. Pre-bookingis essential as maximum numbers apply.

Indoor Cycling BeginnersAn hour of gentle peddling in a safe, flatenvironment. Come along and have a go!Ages 10-adult. Bike and helmet supplied.

Ysgol Judo Training CampThe camp is open to new joiners as well asexisting students. Judo kits can be supplied forchildren who do not have them. Please bring apacked lunch - including at least two drinks.

Lifesaving TasterChildren will have the chance to learn importantnew lifesaving skills including various rescuetechniques, rescue equipment, recovery position,and treatment for shock in both shallow anddeep water.

Mini TennisThis is a quality coached activity for those of youthat are passionate about tennis. Learn new skillsin structured sessions run by qualified andexperienced coaches. For ages 4-10 years.

Mini Water PoloChildren will learn the basics of this excitinggame and learn new skills including passing,shooting, swimming with the ball etc. Childrenwill also play a proper game at the end of thesession and given information regarding miniwater polo club.

Outdoor CyclingA qualified cycling coach teaching specifictechniques relating to track cycling, usingmountain bikes (bring your own or try ours!)with the chance to try fixed wheel track bikes.Cyclists must be able to ride a bike withoutstabilisers.

SnorkellingChildren will have the opportunity to developswimming and aquatic skills through learning thebasics of snorkelling. Skills learnt include properuse of fins, snorkel and mask as well as swimmingunderwater and correct entry into the water.The opportunity will be given to develop skillsthrough fun games including underwater Frisbeeand underwater hockey. Children will need to beable to swim a minimum of 50 metres and beconfident in deep water.

Soccer TotsA session of fun games giving children their firsttaste of football. Develops balance, co-ordination, social interaction and self confidencein a non competitive environment.

STA First Aid Appointed PersonsThis qualification aims to enable candidates to actas an appointed person to take charge of first aidarrangements, including looking after equipment,and facilities. Candidates need to be 13 years orolder on the day of the course. You will gain acertificated qualification which is valid for 3years.

Strength and FitnessIncorporate drills to help strengthen yourswimming ability and to keep fit. Suitable for allabilities who can swim 50m plus. A free swimcard will be needed at the time of booking,please book in advance.

Stroke DevelopmentThis course is for those currently in stages 4and 5 to improve strokes and skills. The mainemphasis is on breast stroke and butterfly.5 day course.

Summer School Youth TheatreAn intensive course where you will receiveprofessional tuition and technical support todevise your own production that will beperformed in front of your friends on theRiverfront main theatre stage. 5 day course.

Swim SchoolThis is a 5 day course aimed at non swimmers,aged 5 years+. Develop basic safety awareness,movement and water confidence skills.

Swim SkillsThis is a 5 day course aimed at children in Stages2 & 3 of the swim lesson programme. Developingswim skills in floatation, travel and rotation andwater safety knowledge.

Tae KwondoTae kwondo is a martial art (system of fighting)of Korean origin. This session will help developforce, speed, balance, flexibility, and stamina. Italso involves mental focus.

Tennis CampThis is a quality, coached activity for those of youthat are passionate about tennis. Learn new skillsin structured sessions run by qualified andexperienced coaches. For ages 10-16 years.

Tennis TotsAn exciting activity which helps children toexercise, develop co-ordination, socialinteraction and basic athletic skills.

Tiny TotsThis is an interactive and fun session for childrenand their parents to take part in together. All ledby a play worker who will provide a mixture offun activities and free play to help your childdevelop their physical skills.

Underwater Frisbee/HockeyChildren will have the chance to participate inthese exciting new sports by firstly beingintroduced to the basics of snorkelling in bothshallow and deep water, learning basic drills andgain experience of using fins, snorkels and masks.Children must be confident in deep water.

WRU Rugby StarsA taster Session for children age 3-4 and 5-7years. Improve your rugby skills in a fun and safelearning environment with the best motivationalcoaching staff, teaching the latest coachingmethods and techniques, to improve your rugbyskills with fun, interactive games and drills whilstbuilding confidence.

Weekend Sports ClubIf you like all types of sport or are not surewhich you enjoy most, multi-sport session couldbe for you. This weekly session enables you toparticipate in a variety of sports. The sessionincludes a free swim which you must have a freeswim card to access.
