Greenwood Historical Society July Meeting On Wed., July 18th at 7 p.m. in the Social Hall of the Greenwood Methodist Church, Mr. Paul Hoffman will tell the story of Stony Brook Park through photos and postcards from its beginning as a private park to its acquisition by the state in 1928. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) made several improvements to the park and many remains can still be found today. One of the most fascinating parts of the program is seeing how the old Dansville hill road was built using equipment that was available during that period of time. We think of Stony Brook as a place for swimming, picnics, and camping. But we don’t usually think about what was involved in making all these things happen. Come and see the changes that took place from yesteryears to today! You’ll be glad you did--and you will appreciate Stony Brook even more the next time you visit. Everyone is welcome to attend. Join us and enjoy refreshments afterward.

Summertime Summertime means putting away the heavier clothing and looking forward to short sleeves and warmer weather. Some of the things that I enjoy about summer are the longer hours of daylight, washing my car in the backyard, cutting the grass, talking to neighbors and just being outside enjoying the pleasant weather. The summer months can be sweltering at times, but all and all, it usually is a pleasant time of the year. As one gets older, it seems that the summers get shorter. They say that time is relative, and the older we get, the faster time appears to go. Keeping this in mind, we should plan to enjoy all that the summer has to offer: go on some picnics; plan a few trips; go swimming; play some golf or tennis. The Bible tells us that everything that God has created is good; nothing is to be rejected, and everything is to be received witha prayer of thanks (1Timothy 4:4). We thank God for summer, and for all the seasons of the year, and we ask His blessing and peace on all of us.

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, always give thanks for everything to God the Father.Good News Bible Ephesians 5:20
