Dr. Fruh was Professor of Civil Engineer- ing and Director of the Environmental Health Engineering Laboratories at the University of Texas at the time of his death. ............ NEWS OF FRIENDS AND MEMBERS Leonard Crook has retired as planning director of the Great Lakes Basin Commission. Crook, who has had 32 years of service in the water resources field, had been planning director since the establishment of the Commission in 1967 and had played a major role in guiding the expansion of its activities. He also pioneered in the use of systems analysis for planning. Arleigh Laycock, a past President of AWRA, has been elected President of the Canadian Water Resources Association. AWRA is cooperating with the ASCE Water Resources Planning and Manage- ment Division in sponsorship of a Specialty Conference on Water Systems ’79. The meeting will be held in Houston, Texas, February 25-28, 1979. 0 Weston Environmental Consultants-Designers, a Corporate Member of AWRA, is holding a third “Dual Water Supply Seminar Workshop” on October 27 at NSF headquarters in Washington, D.C. In October 1976 Weston was given a two-year grant by NSF to investigate the feasibility of dual or multiple water systems where both potable or sub- or non-potable water are supplied through separate mains to consumers. The seminar/workshops are providing exposure to potential users of the systems model and providing valuable information about practical applications through discussions. 1273
