Chapter Four: Friends don’t remain friends forever
Without warning, his watch beeped loudly. It could be called the perfect wake up call. “Time to pick up Thomas from The Royal Jaguar Academy!” Chuckling at her confused expression, he continued. “Don’t worry; it’s just for the Christmas Holiday!” “Oh.” She sighed, angry at the fact she had forgotten. Grabbing his hand tightly, they walked down the steps of the mansion together. After an hour of flying, they finally reached The Royal Jaguar Academy. The wide doors open. The marble steps sat predominantly in the scorching sun. Annabelle led the way. After all, this was her old school and she was once the Head Girl! Christopher at her heels. Both eagerly waiting to see their son - who they hadn’t seen since Christ-mas. As fast as lightning , Thomas came running down the steps, his suitcase trailing behind him, his robes short-er than before (he must have had a growth-spurt). “Yay, Mummy!” He yelled. “Hello Father, pleasant to see you.” He said with a nod. “Hello Thomas! Let’s go home” Annabelle said, squeezing him lightly. “I missed you so much.” They said, both at the same time. Before they got onto their cloud though, Thomas was scooped up into his father’s arms and slowly drifted off to sleep; he was tired after a long day… Thomas awoke in his bed. His pyjamas hugging his body. Oddly, he felt something heavy sitting on his leg. As he sat up, panicking he saw his mother; his journal sat in her hands. “MOTHER!” Screamed Thomas. Suddenly, his father entered the room. “What’s wrong?” He said. “Mum is reading my diary!” Thomas said, his eyes tearing up. “Seems that our little Tommy has a crush on…Sophia, who’s that?!” Annabelle said whilst giggling. Christopher snatched the diary out if her hands, to inspect what Thomas had written. Giggling as he said, “Here Tom!” After this Thomas turned away and silently wept into his pillow. “Shhh, no Tom, there is no need to cry!” Annabelle said soothingly, gently patting his back. Eventually he stopped crying and got back to his bed. Then checked the clock: 7:00 pm, ‘Had I been sleeping only that long?’ he thought. Suddenly he yawned. “I think Tom’s tired. It’s time for beddy-byes!” Annabelle said. Tucking Thomas into his bed and kissing him on the head. Walking out the door, she whispered in a soft voice (loud enough for Tom to hear) “G’night!” Then he drifted off to sleep and had a nightmare. Thomas awoke in the morning to his alarm bleeping loudly. “Thomas, it’s time for breakfast!” Annabelle called. “I’m coming Mother.” Replied Thomas, as he walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. The thin aura of cook-ies punctuated the room. “Here.” Annabelle said, whilst handing Thomas a plate. He picked up two pancakes and placed them onto his plate. “Yummy!” He said, with a mouth full of food. Causing his parents to chuckle simulta-neously. “Well, I’ve got to go now, bye!” Said Annabelle. Walking out the front door, only to be greeted by her good friend Rosie. They travelled by limousine to Rosie’s three-story house in Burbershire. As soon as they arrived they gathered around the kitchen table and continued their previous conversation. “You don’t understand Ann.” Rosie said irritably. “You don’t know what it was like to come home and see masked men surrounding your house, you weren’t here when it happened. I used to come home every night and see fire burning around my house. I used to be scared that my family and friends could be dead!” “Rose, Chris doesn’t do that anymore, you know that.” Annabelle said annoyed at the way Rosie was talking. “But he used to. And that is bad enough!” Rosie said, weeping into her folded arms. “Oh get over yourself!” An-nabelle screamed. “Well at least I don’t walk around killing innocent people.” Rosie roared. “You know what, I’m done, and I don’t need to be friends with the likes of you!” Annabelle shouted. Slamming the door on her way out… She opened the door and collapsed against the wall sighing. Sure Christopher was an evil man, but that was what she liked about him. The late Headmaster Butterfang had said MANY times: “Evil is nothing worse than good, the good kill, and the bad kill, what is this difference? Power is the difference, evil may start to rule but they how-ever cannot sustain the power to remain in power.” Despite his noble speech, he quit his job as Headmaster and became a loyal Hawnet. During his day he worked as a double agent, transferring the good side’s secrets over to evil Hawnets (Christopher Hawthorn and his followers).

A PRAYER FOR MOTHERS
Loving God
We thank you for our mothers Mothers who lift us up when we fall Who help us take our first steps Who encourage us to go on
Mothers who teach us values and show us faith Mothers who weep with us and laugh with us
Mothers who never give up on us Today we remember that every child
Is a precious gift Every child has a mother
And every mother is somebody’s child We pray for mothers, for fathers, for families
We pray for mothers who bring up children alone We pray for those who mourn the loss of their mother And for mothers who mourn the loss of their child
We pray for expectant mothers About to bring new life into the world We unite our prayers with those of Mary
Who knew the depth of a mother’s struggle And the radiant joy of a mother’s love
Amen
