Thanksgiving especially, affords us an opportunity to reflect, share, and express appreciation for all that is good in our lives. So I encourage you to fully enjoy this uniquely American holiday. As you know, we have been very busy this year in executing PEC's mission of providing trained and ready National Guard units in support of US policy. But as we continue our mission, let us not forget those individual National Guard soldiers and friends who are deployed away from home. Their contributions to protect our homeland and resist the enemies of freedom deserve our continuous moral support. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers this Thanksgiving season. You are part of an organization that your fellow soldiers and citizens look upon with enormous respect and admiration. PEC is an elite institution because of your great work and dedication to duty. Be proud of the fact that you are making a positive difference every day for our students and conferees. I certainly appreciate all that you do for PEC and the National Guard. Teresa and I wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving, Colonel Ken Newton

PEC Fall Fest-- A SCARY SUCCESS! The woods surrounding PEC were “alive” with ghosts and goblins for the Annual PEC Fall Fest on Saturday, October 30th! Shiloh Pavilion was turned into a festive retreat by Dena Dixon in preparation for the activities. Hot coffee and cider welcomed our guests and was provided by Teresa Newton-Terres, Nelson Beck and Pam Jahner throughout the evening. The festivities began at 5:00 with a costume contest in Shiloh Pavilion, for ages 12 and under directed by Mrs. Susanne Gardner and Mrs. Wendy McLellan. The Bar-B-Que meal immediately followed, catered by our own El Nopal Restaurant. Natasha Huntley coordinated the cookie decorating event for the children and Kim Niday coordinated the “ever popular” Trunk or Treat activity. Many of our staff and family members decorated their cars and gave out candy in support of Trunk or Treat. The highlights of the evening included the hay ride, provided by Al and Pam Hall and the Haunted Forest provided by CW2 Ali Westby and the Organization Readiness Training Center team, SFC Dwayne Hicks and the Strength Maintenance Training team and SFC Sally Randolph and the Human Resources Training team. Many others joined in the fun and helped create the “Night of the Living Dead” theme for the evening. The evening concluded with a bon fire. Many of the guests arrived in costume and the evening proved to be a “HOWLING SUCCESS”. Thank you to everyone who had a part in this event!

This first time behind the scenes tour was created for Family members to become familiar with PEC and what we have to offer families. We ordered a perfect fall day for the event and welcomed a total of 15 participants in the tour with some of our staff attending with their spouses and family. The tour began at Davis

Auditorium with a warm welcome from Colonel Newton and Teresa Newton-Terres. Then we visited the Command Group, Steve Blackford, our resident Librarian at Bumpers Library, the Education Support Center, Human Resources Training Center, Information Technology Training Center, Logistics Training Center, Strength Maintenance Training Center and the Family Readiness Conference room at Washington Hall. At this point we boarded one of the PEC’s shuttle buses and visited Freedom Hall Fitness Center where “Jimmie Dell” gave an official tour of the facility.

Jimmie Dell, (aka, John Davis), gives tour of Freedom Hall Fitness Center. Then it was back on the bus to visit Independence Hall where Frank Dussex gave detailed information on the services that PEC provides to our students and guests. Our last stop was at the Organizational Readiness Training Center before returning to Concord Café. The tour was an overall success and we appreciate the attentiveness of each Training Center and Directorate that we visited. Many thanks to Luke Brewer who accompanied us on the tour and took pictures.
