At least that is what they told us at the seminary a long time ago. Stewardship has three points also. They are time, talent, and treasure. Time refers to how much time we have to live on this earth. Psalm 90:10 says: “The years of our life are threescore and ten, or even by reason of strength fourscore; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone and we fly away.” A score is twenty. Many of us will live well beyond sixty years, even beyond eighty. So what do we do with all those years? Time is measured not only in how long we live, but how well we live and how much we accomplish. We are blessed. Have we been a blessing to others? The second T stands for talent. Everyone is an individual in this category. In the parable about the talents in Matthew 25 the master of the house entrusts his property called talents to servants while he is away. Upon his return the servants give an accounting. One who had five talents doubled the property. The second servant was not entrusted with as much. Nevertheless, he also doubled the property entrusted to him. It is sad that the third servant was found worthy of trust, but he failed to care for his master’s property. He hid it so no one could take it from him. He simply returned the property to the master. The parable is designed so the prop- erty sounds like money to be invested. But the principal applies. Some people choose to hide or neglect the talents God has given them. Others gladly use their talents in productive ways and thereby increase and enhance their abilities. The third T represents the treasure our Creator has loaned to each of us. Ownership is out of the question. We do not own anything. Every- thing is measured by how well we invest our talents, and how much time we have left. Tithing means returning to God one tenth. Some figure their tithe on their sum total of material treasure, including imcome, property, investments, etc. Others calculate their tithe on their annual income. Some people who do not tithe use a percentage or proportion. They may decide to increase their percentage a little each year as they move toward ten percent. And of course, some are able to give much more than ten per- cent to charitable causes including the church. How are you doing with your personal stewardship? Can you measure how much you love and ap- preciate the Little Chapel by how you support it with your time, talent and treasure? Are you ready to stand before the Master and give an account of how well you are doing as a faithful steward? Thanks for all you do. ~ Dr. David Jenkins Interim Minister SUNDAY NOVEMBER 7, Daylight Saving Time ends. Set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed on Saturday, November 6.

Dear friends in Christ: The ensembles at the Little Chapel are continuing to meet on a weekly basis and are enjoying learning a great deal of new music for the upcoming Sun-days and liturgical seasons. The Little Chapel Chancel Choir and the Little Chapel Ringers con-tinue to meet on Thursday evenings and have a wonderful time together each week making music, enjoying fellowship and just having fun. In the bell choir, three spots are available for new (or substitute) ringers. Please consider joining this fun group of ding-a-lings. If we are successful in filling the final spots, we will have a full five octave choir again. As several new ringers will tell you, we will teach you everything you need to know and no musical experience is needed to participate in the bell choir since bell ringing can be learned quickly. The Little Chapel Ringers plan to play on the final Sunday of each month, except during December, in which they will play at the Christmas Eve can-dlelight service.

In a similar vein, the rehearsals and services with the Little Chapel Chan-cel Choir are going well and we are beginning to look at the music for the liturgical season of Advent and the festival music for Christmas Eve.

Everyone is welcome to join us at any time, now as we begin some of the favorite music of the year. In addition, I am happy to report that the Chil-dren’s Choir has begun to meet on Sunday morn-ings and our time together is going well so far. ALL children are welcome to join us at 9:00 AM each Sunday. This group will sing in worship soon. I hope all parents will encourage their chil-dren to join us for this fun time of learning, enjoy-ment and fellowship through the music especially suited for younger voices. I express appreciation to Jean Schild, Judy Gibson and Susan Long for their able leadership assistance with this new

and exciting choir. As we enter the middle of the fall semester, there are many concerts and music events happening in the community. There are many concert series in Wilmington, not in the least the extensive season of performances produced by the University of North Carolina Wilmington Department of Music. Take time to explore the cultural resources that our community has to offer. Speaking of upcom-ing concerts, a special event is on the horizon and EVERYONE is invited. For the first time that we know of (ever!), Wilmington is going to have a progressive dinner/progressive organ recital. The basic premise of this is to visit three different downtown churches with part of a meal at each church, accompanied by some wonderful organ music. It will be quite the event and an evening of music to remember! Here are the details: the Wil-mington Chapter of the American Guild of Organ-ists invites you to a Progressive Dinner/Recital on Friday, November 5, beginning at 6:00 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 16th and Market Street, for hors d’oeuvres and a short organ recital. We will then proceed to Trinity United Methodist Church and St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church for entrée and dessert, with more music at each venue. Cost is only $10.00 per person, but reservations must be made in advance: your din-ner reservation, with check, must be received by October 30. Please give the check and reserva-tion request to either C. Justin Smith at the church or mail to Lisa Nichol, 6000 Forest Creek Circle, Wilmington, NC 28403.

Soli Deo Gloria, C. Justin Smith

Already it is November. If you still have those Jack-o-lanterns out from Halloween, just turn them around, smiley face to the back and you already have pumpkins as a decoration for Thanksgivng! Saves time and money. And speaking of money, I wish to thank those who have so generously in the past made donations through the PW for the funeral hospitality fund. We have used it several times. We welcome to the PW Council, Pat Vass as Vice-Moderator and Iris Davis, Secretary who accepted to re-place our past Secretary, Peggie Taylor who died. I wish to thank all Circle members, who are using Horizons Study Book, for paying for and receiving your book either at the Gathering or prior to that date. It made it so much easier not to have to go through circle treasurers. I thank all of you. May I also remind you that individuals or circles cannot charge to the PW account without prior approval from the PW Council. We have worked hard on our Budget over the past two years and plan to set up By-laws that meet session approval. It is not too early to think “Christmas Shoe Boxes”. We would like to have them all by December 1st. There are no perishable items in the boxes, so it is one item you can check off your “to-do” list.. Last year we had to ask for boxes at the last minute, so help us and yourself, by turning them in by Dec. 1st.

$202.00 was collected at the Gather-ing in September for the Thank Of-fering. Thank you ladies.

And speaking of the Gathering, thanks to Sandra Tracy and her team for the decorations. There were shoes galore to emphasize our theme, “Kicking up Our Heels”. Thanks to those who set up, deco-rated and cleaned up. You know who you are, so give yourself a pat on the back.

The Church Women United World Community Day Celebration will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 at Wrightsboro United Methodist Church located at 3300 North Kerr Avenue. Coffee and Registration are at 9:30AM, followed by worship at 10:00AM. World Community Day is celebrated annually in the first week of November, as an ecumenical service that brings women and men together to share their aspirations and challenges. This year’s program begins with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vi-sion of a world in which people of many nations and traditions work together in a commitment of nonviolent means. Together we consider examples of economic injustice in the light of the goal: creating communities that promote the dignity, safety and economic opportunities for all—which Dr. King memorably called “The Beloved Community.” The logo for World Community Day 2010 depicts hearts of all sizes and shapes radiating out of one enormous heart-center. It was designed by folk artist Flor-ence Naquin, a member of TARC, Terrebonne Association of Retarded Citizens. This Louisiana nonprofit organization creates opportunities that support the tal-ents and need for independence found among its members. Come join us as we explore the theme “Building the Beloved Community.” For additional information, please call Jean Northrop, 686-5376.

The Blizzard and the Daniel families would like to thank everyone for all the prayers, cards, visits and wonderful food we received during the time of our Dad’s, Granddad’s and Great Granddad’s death. Your prayers helped us through a very difficult time and we will always be grateful for the Little Chapel with the BIG HEART. Words alone cannot express how blessed we are to be a part of such a loving church family.

Yours in Christ,

Brett, Kathy and Christopher Blizzard

Chris, Katie and Deaglan Alexander

Betsy and Channing Daniel

Dear Church Members and Friends: Thank you for the flowers the church brought, also for the prayers, cards and thoughts from all of you. We really have a wonderful group of people there at the Little Chapel.

Thanks, Freddye Ledford

Dear Little Chapel: Today is Monday. Gene’s Memorial was on Saturday and I am a bit overwhelmed but I have to express our family’s gratitude to the people of Little Chapel. Our family has been sustained by your expression of thoughts, by food, flowers and visits. Your prayers over the past year, during my surgeries and Gene’s failing health, have helped us face the future with hope and strength. Our family is so thankful for Dr. Jenkins and each of the mem-bers who make the Little Chapel a very caring church.

Sincerely, Anne Tucker

To My Little Chapel Family: Thank you for the cards, phone calls and prayers over the past couple of months. You really helped me through a difficult time in my life.

Love, Taylor Hammond

FALL UPDATE FOR TILESTON OUTREACH

During November, the LCOB will con-tinue to collect fall or winter clothes for any member of the family. As always limit your box or bag to 15 pounds or less. All clothes should be covered when you leave your donations on the Tile-ston Bench.

Household goods are most welcome. Tileston guests especially need sheets and towels. Please try to find a warm blanket or quilt for a Tileston guest. Please help the Tileston Volun-teers by labeling your bed linens with the correct size of the bed they fit.

During December, we will collect toiletry articles for Tileston for Christmas baskets there. Our winter clothing collection will continue in January and February 2011.

If you have a large appliance or a piece of furniture to donate, please call the Tileston Office directly and leave a detailed message at 762-5491, Ext. 35. Be certain that you include a time when a volunteer can call you back to make arrangements for the Tileston van to come to your house to pick up your donations.

TOILETRIES FOR TILESTON ARE WELCOME ANY SUNDAY. Don’t forget to ask your friends and neighbors to save motel/hotel toiletries for you to bring to the LCOB.

Feel free to contact Libby Frye, 793-1033 if you have questions relative to this mission. Thanks for your continued support of this worthy mission.

TIME TO

SAVE SHOEBOXES Very soon we will begin filling shoe-boxes with gifts for our Christmas Day Meals on Wheels friends. Now is the time to save empty shoe-boxes. Keep the boxes at home until we call for them next month.

Thank you for helping.

♥Little Chapel on the Boardwalk For the Journey Nourishing each other respectfully Exploring faith thoughtfully Worshipping God joyfully Serving others generously.

They went to church that day in Plymouth town, To thank God for his goodness.

For they had known hunger, pain and want, gone thinly clad

Through iron winter, thrown the gauntlet down To death himself, and let him take his toll,

And now they had won through … And so they prayed

Their word of thanks, and stood up unafraid And faced the future with undaunted soul.
