The goal of the Hyped! movie has been to bring our team closer by bringing guys together to film the stuff they think is fun to ride. Because everyone is always out filming for their typical snowboard part, pretty much a collage of all the best tricks they can do on the biggest stuff they can do it on. Don´t get me wrong I love that, its progression, but I also love seeing people just snowboard with a smile on their faces! Progression doesn´t always have to be going bigger, faster, farther, more spins, flips etc, it can also be achieved by exploring other ways to have fun on your snowboard with as many of your friends as possible.

I feel like everyone who was able to film for the Hyped! movie this year always had a smile on their faces and went home feeling like that was one of the best days snowboarding. We tried to always snowboard as much as we could while filming for the movie, that may have meant some days were not as film productive as others, but we sure were able to enjoy the day with amazing snowboarding. And, in the end that is what it is all about, having a good time on your snowboard.

WHAT Is THe IDeA BeHInD HyPeD!?The idea for Hyped! is that the film shall convey the feeling of ultimate excitement. We are trying to focus more on how fun snowboarding actually is, not how hard it is. People can expect seeing their favorite Nitro riders riding stuff that the viewer hopefully can relate to more. Instead of only showing the best tricks on the perfect locations (we will show that as well), we are trying to show how the Nitro riders are snowboarding when all pressure is off. The goal is to capture that feeling you get when you are riding with your best friends, on a perfect day, and you never wanna stop riding.

WHy Is THIs movIe goIng To Be DIfferenT THAn THe oTHers?See 1

WHAT WAs your fAvorITe momenT fIlmIng for HyPeD!?I think it was our whole trip to China. The conditions where not the best, but we had such a blast. It was me, Austin Smith, Bryan Fox, Knut, Nils Arvidsson, Anton Bilare, Bob Plumb (Nitro photographer) and Mark Welsh (also Nitro photographer) to name a few. We were just filming on a really shitty half pipe á la 1992 and having so much fun. Between runs legends like Ingemar Backman, Scotty Wittlake and Michi Albin were dropping in and hitting the same thing. It felt like we were in a time machine.

WHAT WAs your cAmerA seT-uP?Panasonic HPX-170, Canon 7D, Nizo Professional Super 8, Casio Highspeed, GoPro Hero2, iPhone 4s.

WHAT Is someTHIng THAT you AlWAys HAve on you WHen TrAvelIng?Too many bags, too many cables, earplugs, headphones, a book, too many cameras and a coffee cup in my hand.

WHAT ADvIce WoulD you gIve To kIDs TryIng To mAke THeIr oWn snoWBoArD movIe?Just get out there, film your friends and have fun. Make a lot of small videos and put them online, eventually when you get good, they will get noticed. If you have fun and enjoy what you are doing and are passionate about it, you will get far.

WHAT Are your InTenTIons WITH HyPeD!?To try and make a slightly different snowboard movie and try to see snowboarding with fresh eyes. My goal is to try and see past all unwritten “rules” that filmmakers go by, and then see what happens.

Is scoTTy WHITlAke goIng To Be In THe movIe?I don’t think so. (he didn’t really get anything) maaaybe.... don’t include this answer

DurIng WHIcH TrIP DID THe WeIrDesT sTuff HAPPen?I have to say China again, it is such a weird and interesting country. Highlights included weird food, the Chinese Mafia and a drunk Austin (not a good combo), man made resorts, interesting animal transports, man-dancing at weird clubs and too much rice wine (crazy stuff happens).

WHo Are THe PeoPle BeHInD THe HyPeD! movIe, fIlmers, eTc...?It is me and Pirmin Juffinger who have been filming most of the stuff, but also Clemens Prankl. A lot of the riders have been filming as well, Knut Eliassen have probably filmed a ton of stuff. Knut and Andi Aurhammer has also helped to produce the film.

WHAT oTHer movIes HAve you mADe Before THIs?Pony Tale by Actionhorse Films, a beautiful film about the love for horses. I also worked on Escramble and some other stuff.

WHAT mADe you WAnT To geT BAck InTo mAkIng snoWBoArD movIes?I once wanted to be a pro snowboarder, so me and my friends filmed ourselves. Somehow it was my task to put it all together, probably because I was the worst snowboarder among us. I soon realized that I really enjoyed the filming part of snowboarding, and putting it all together. I dropped my dreams of becoming the next Terje and decided to pursue the filming stuff. As soon as I did that I got better at snowboarding.

Tell me your fAvorITe THIng ABouT snoWBoArDIng?I love everything about it. Lapping a slushy park with my best friends, hitting side hits, the crazy feeling of riding pow, spin to win, flip to win, the people, meeting new friends for life, grabbing, tweaking, falling, riding in rain etc. It is still, 15 years later, my favorite thing to do.

Tell me your fAvorITe THIng ABouT fIlmIng?I think nowadays it’s more about the whole picture, not only one shot. I love the whole process, filming, putting it all together, music, the design part with titles and stuff, trying to show more then just the trick and somehow, tell a little story.

WHere Are you from AnD HoW DID you geT sTArTeD In THe snoWBoArD fIlmIng BusIness?I am from a small town in Sweden called Östersund, close to the biggest ski resort. Long story short, bought a shitty camera, started filming my group of friends, made a few small really shitty movies, somehow my friend who was a snowboard photographer (Daniel Blom) recommended me for a job at Method Mag in Austria, so I moved there and started to work as a video guy and with the editorial stuff. I went to school for engineering and never really took any film classes or so. If you really wanna learn how to make snowboard films, just mess around and make a lot of smaller stuff. It is for sure possible to learn without film school.

If you coulD only fIlm one Person WHo WoulD IT Be?Knut Eliassen, because he is always super hyped and every day is the best day of his life. He also can turn any feature into video gold.

WHAT goT you InTo DesIgn AnD ArT?My mom told me once that I drew a picture of King Kong when i was 2 1/2 years old that got my pre-school teachers in a panic. My parents had a huge influence on me in regards to letting me do what came naturally and encouraging me to pursue my talents.

WHere Is your BAse of oPerATIons?I operate out of a secret bunker in Southern California.

WHy Is your BAse THere?It’s where I have all my art stuff, books, toys and other inspiration. I’m a bit of a hermit and collector of certain things, so I like to have access to them both physically and visually to get me inspired.

WHAT ADvIce WoulD you gIve An AsPIrIng ArTIsT WHo WAnTs To BreAk InTo snoWBoArDIng?Be a well rounded artist, first and foremost. Learn to draw. Learn to paint. Don’t rely too heavily on the computer, it’s just another tool... an important one, but still just a tool. Learn to draw. Did I say that already? The skills you develop outside of the computer will enhance the ones you use in your digital work. Do work that inspires you first. Stay loose. Don’t be afraid to try new mediums. Don’t copy the work of others, use it to inspire yours. People will notice you if you are good. Don’t limit yourself to snowboarding.

WHAT Is your fAvorITe or go To Tool WHen DesIgnIng grAPHIcs?Pencil and paper, then the Wacom tablet, Photoshop and Illustrator.

WHy?I try and work out most of the drawing and design problems on paper first... small thumbnails and sketches. The “gems” are then refined or tightened up digitally... then even tightened up and played with more with pencil and paper sometimes... it can be a vicious cycle, but always worth the effort. If you need a computer to polish a turd, it’s time to start over.

WHAT Is your fAvorITe THIng ABouT DoIng snoWBoArDIng grAPHIcs?Working with the athletes, pushing yourself to do better graphics than the year before, and seeing the stoke in people when they see one of your designs for the first time.

TALKING WITH EEROYou made it through the 2011/2012 injury free, how stoked are you?i´m really happy. it really sucked to spend the two past summers just rehabbing my knee. I´ll still be rehabbing this summer, but I´ll have time for some other summer activities too. I will feel way more confident going into the next season now!

How many years have you had a ProModel with Nitro?This one will be my 7th, so 7 years now! damn, time flies!

How have your graphics changed throughout the years?I feel like the graphics have been getting a bit more mature as i am getting older. changing from cartoons into real photo graphics.

What is your favorite part about your 2012 graphic?All the photos. to me its like looking back to my career and life when i see the board. great memories and vintage vibes!

What are the top five things you love about your Nitro ProModel?graphic, flex, shape, pop, all around board.

If you could only do one trick for the rest of your life what would it be?ollie, that is the mother of all tricks.

What advice would you give to people who want to get better at snowboarding?Just keep doing it for your self and for the right reasons, thats how you will progress.

How many years have you been riding for Nitro?I think i started riding for nitro in 2001. so its been 11 years.

Why?To me nitro has always been the coolest company to ride for. They have really taken good care of me and let me do my own thing and supported it. It´s so rad to be part of a true core snowboarding company. I know I´ll be riding for nitro till the end of my career.

Not some micro gel pad or rubber bubble, but a full- size Airbag that will absorb icy park landings and huge street drops, taking the impact instead of your back. The FTI Air chassis is also featuring our new Mini Disc for maximum board flex.

fTI cHAssIs The Fast Track Interface chassis is our perfect blend of fiber reinforced nylon and T6 aluminum to create an ultra lightweight binding with incredible response and enhanced board feel all without the rigidity of a 100% metal binding. Our exclusive Fast Track system securely attaches the heel cup at the front of the binding without hardware, which increases leverage and transfers power faster from heel to toe. It also allows you to quickly micro adjust your bindings with just two screws at the heel while keeping your foot always centered within the binding. Now also featuring our new Mini Disc.

The weight has been reduced using a fiber-reinforced composite material, allowing the binding to be mounted and micro-adjusted on any common 2x4 insert pattern.
