Pallet Racking

Pallet racking systems come in manyconfigurations, but the importance ofgetting the basics right is fundamental.For safe and efficient operation, theracking system must be designed tointerface with both the pallet / load andthe mechanical handling equipment.

Allibert Buckhorn racking systems areengineered with safety at the forefrontof design. New systems have for manyyears conformed with the FEMEuropean code of practice.

Wide aisle racking eases and speedsaccess for mechanical handlingequipment.

Narrow aisle racking greatlyimproves storage density, requiringspecialised narrow-aisle lift trucks.

Drive-in / Drive-through rackingprovides even greater storage capacityby eliminating aisles. Drive-in racking isa LIFO (last-in / first-out) storage system.

Pallet Live Storage allows pallets toflow down inclined rollers, combining great storage density with the advantage of FIFO (first-in / first-out)stock rotation. Push-back racking can be used to give high density storage in LIFO (last-in / first-out)configurations up to six pallets deep.

Cantilever Racking

Cantilever racking is designed for thestorage of long items. It is the perfectsolution for bars, tubes, profiles andsheet materials.

It is used extensively throughout themetals, timber and plastics industries.

Allibert Buckhorn’s cantilever rackingis simply the best design available. Itfeatures tapered columns and arms,providing strength where it is neededmost and providing greater clearancefor easy access. The rectangular lockingpin allows quick and precise armadjustment.

Cantilever racking can be supplied inboth single sided and double sidedconfigurations. and is often used withside-loading forklifts in narrow aislesystems.

It can also be fitted with productretaining trays or with beams to providecontinuous uninterrupted storage.

Allibert Buckhorn is adept atdesigning ‘custom specials’ to meet the needs of all manner of storage problems. An adjustablecantilever racking system was designed and installed for B Mason & Son to store copper-alloy strip. Tworacking systems were installed; one to store 55 tonnes in 10m high bays and the other to store coils ofup to 12 tonnes per level - a load previously unheard of for an adjustable system.

TW MetalsCantilever racking enabled Southampton based TWMetals to optimise the use of storage space as thebusiness expanded.

Shelving

Hand loaded shelving systems can fulfila multitude of needs, from a smallstoreroom to a high-bay warehouse.

Long-Span shelving offers a full rangeof beam sizes and load capacities thatare easily adjustable in sturdy uprightframes. Available with steel shelf panelsor chipboard decking.

Closed shelving with sheet steelbacks and sides easily divided for smallparts storage.

Carton Live Storage allows cartons orcontainers to flow down inclined rollersfor FIFO (first-in, first-out) stock rotationand order picking.

Line-side Carton Live Storage unitsare ideal for just-in-time manufacturingpractices.

Mobile systems make the best useof limited space. Long span or closedshelving is mounted on mobile baseswhich move along floor mountedtracks. In this way a conventionalsystem can be reduced in area by up to 30%, closing-up adjacent runs and creating an aisle only when itis needed. Consequently, more runs of shelving can be fitted into the available area or the free spacecan be used for other activities.

World Design TradeWDT (World Design Trade) operate a DistributionCentre in West London for leading brands of leisurefashion and were provided with five miles of shelving -some on mezzanine floor and some built as a two-tier.

Mezzanine floors provide a costefficient means of increasing floor spacefor a number of uses.

Allibert Buckhorn design and installmulti-level systems from simple over-sailing floors to integrated storagesolutions complete with offices, racking,shelving, live storage and inter-floorconveyors.

Fire Rating for mezzanine floors,staircases, handrailing and pallet safetygates are among the many essentials tocomplete a project.

A storage platform releases groundfloor space for production or furtherstorage.

The lower and upper floor areas can bepartitioned for offices or mesh securityenclosures.

A two-tier system doubles theamount of accessible shelving.

Multiple-tier systems can beconstructed to provide as many levelsas the building height allows.

Inter-floor conveyors can be installed to ease and speed handling operations.

As required, we can liaise with local authorities for Building Regulation approval.
