    Toddler & Preschool Curriculum

    Lesson 1 Noah Builds A Boat

    To the Teacher : Begin your planning and preparation with prayer. A letter has been provided for you to send home with the children to share withtheir parents what is happening in Sunday school, and for review. Arriveearly to set things up, relax, breathe, take a moment in prayer, and

    be present when parents arrive with their children.

    Preparation Read Genesis 6 and meditate on this verse. Think about howthis lesson is relevant to little ones.

    Memory Verse : Noah was different; G OD liked what he saw in Noah. Genesis 6:8

    Materials needed: paper, stickers

    Schedule & Lesson

    Free time (10 minutes) Greet parents with a smile and welcome their

    child by greeting. Make parents feel assured to leave their child in the

    Toddler/Preschool room. Make sure all toys are sanitized weekly and ready

    to play with. You may want to set out some new toys from time to time.

    Prayer & Snack (10 minutes) Kids should wash their hands and sit downat the table. They should drink from a small cup, and use a napkin. Pray

    a simple short pray before eating. Establish this so they learn good habits

    and manners. Suggestion: Fish crackers and water.

    Music (5 minutes) Noah Builds a Boat

    Noah Builds a Boat(Tune: Jesus Loves Me)

    God told Noah to build a boat (make building motions using closed hands)

    Make it wide and very tall, (Make motions wide and tall)

    God did help him build the boat, (Point to God)

    To keep him safe from all the rain. (Rain motions from sky)

    I am so thankful , I am so thankful, I am so thankful, (Clap 2x on the word

    thankful)

    God help him make the boat. (Make building motions using closed hands)

    Lesson Time (5-10 minutes) Use good expression for the kids and make it

    exciting.

    Teacher : One day, God looked all over the earth. (Make circles aroundyour eyes). So many people were bad. God saw a good man who lovedhim. His name was Noah. Noah, I want you to build a boat, said God.Make it this tall (Hand high) and this wide (Hands wide). Make it bigenough for your family and lots and lots of animals. So this is wha t Noah

    did. He got some special wood and hammered and hammered andhammered (use a plastic hammer). Noah must have got pretty tired. Myarm is tired right now. Noah needed help, so God sent him some help tobuild this boat. The men worked hard every day until the boat was all done.

    Now just look at this beautiful boat (show a boat you made). When we workhard and do a good job, God will help us. He helps our family and He helpsyou every day.

    Boat Craft (10 minutes)

    Cut out a boat and glue to blue construction paper. Add some fish stickers

    or crackers. Add a sail using some material. Additional: Color the boat.

    Teacher Review : God had looked all over the earth. (Make circles aroundyour eyes). And found only one man who loved Him. His name was Noah.Noah, I want you to build a boat, said God. Make it this tall (Hand high)and this wide (Hands wide). Make it big enough for your family and lots andlots of animals. So this is what Noah did. He got some special wood andhammered and hammered and hammered (use a plastic hammer).

    Next God said, Noah now that the boat is built, take all your family and goinside. I am goin g to send lots and lots of rain. Leave the door open and if any other people want to go inside they can come along with you and your family. However, no other people wanted to get on the big boat. They didnot really believe God would send rain like He said He would. So theywaited to see what would happen. Sure enough, God shut the door (Claphands) on the boat. Eventually, it started raining. It rained and rained, andrained, and rained. (Make motions) It rained many days until the wholeearth was filled with water. Only the people in the big boat were safe. God

    took care of them. He will take care of you and your family, too. God lovesus and will keep us safe.

    Music : Lets sing out song again.

    Rain Craft (10 minutes)

    Give each child a blue piece of construction paper. Glue large raindrops to

    the paper. Add cotton for clouds. Additional: Color the boat provided.

    Scripture Poetry (Based on Genesis 7)

    Noahs family walked into the boat, (walking motions)

    Then God shut the door, (Clap hands)

    God sent lots and lots of rain (Point to God)

    But Noahs family was safe! (Hug self)

    never returned. Lets count to 7. 1 -2-3-4-5-6-7. I am so glad that God tookcare of the dove. The dove flew off and found a good home and food to eat.God took care of the dove, and He will take care of you, too.

    Dove Craft (10 minutes)

    Glue the white dove to the paper. Write the childrens names on the blue

    construction paper using a white crayon. Additional: Color the dive

    provided.

    New Lesson: The big day finally arrived when God told Noah to leave theark. Wow! What a relief it was to go outside in the fresh air and see the sunagain, the clouds in the big sky, and the green trees. All the animals withNoah and his family left the ark. Noah was so thankful to God that he built

    an altar and offered thanks to God in heaven (point to heaven). God toldNoah that he would never send so much rain that would cause a big floodover the whole earth. God has kept His promise. After a big rain, if we lookup in the sky we may see a beautiful rainbow. When we see the rainbow,God is saying, I will keep my promise. I will never flood the whole earthagain ever! God is good all the time!

    Music : Lets sing our new song about the rainbow God sent.

    God sent a rainbow in the sky, (hands high)

    Rainbow Craft (10 minutes)

    Give each child a blue piece of construction paper. Give strips of paper the

    colors of the rainbow to glue on the construction paper.
