He has given his name to thousands of schools and countless streets across the United States of America, as well as to the country’s most important environmental conservation organisation.

Ornithologists the world over know his work by heart.

How did this man, who was born a Frenchman and died an American, come to leave such a legacy?

It was largely through his sheer passion for a project that most deemed a folly. At the start of the 19th century, Audubon undertook the task of cataloguing and painting the birds of America – all of them. Not only a great artist whose works are still loved today, he was also an adventurer who

explored the untamed wilderness of North America, sometimes in the most challenging conditions.

Equally, he was a talented writer whose journals have served as the source material for this graphic novel recounting the most significant episodes in the biography of this larger-than-life figure.

The result is an exciting tale of natural history in the Wild West.

At the start of the 19th century, John James Audubon decided to embark upon an epic ornithological quest across America with nothing but his artist’s materials, an assistant, and a gun.

A stunningly illustrated and detailed book charting the life and adventures of a passionate bird-lover and explorer.

The chief matriarch is dying. Drawing her last breath, she declares a contest: let fate decide the one worthy to rule. Fifty souls are summoned in the night; fifty souls bound to the same fate. But this is no ordinary trial... And so begins the first task.

A superb genre-spanning mix of supernatural, historical fantasy, action, and folk-tale, this gripping book is the first in an epic trilogy.

Alexis Deacon’s first book, Slow Loris, was named one of the hundred best children’s books of all time by Time Magazine. He has twice been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal and is a two time recipient of The New York Times Best Illustrated Children’s Books Award. In 2014 The River won the Observer/Jonathan Cape/Comica Graphic Short Story Prize. This is his first full-length graphic novel.

JUNE 2016

With stunning narrative skill, this compelling book intricately weaves together true life narratives from 1913 and 1921 with a fictional story set in the present day. Equal parts bleak and beautiful, How to Survive in the North is a unique visual journey of love and loss that shows the strength it takes to survive in even the harshest conditions – whether that be struggling for survival in the Arctic in the 1900s or surviving a mid-life crisis in the present day.

Luke Healy was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. He received a BA in Journalism from Dublin City University, and an MFA in Cartooning from The Center for Cartoon Studies in Vermont, USA. Working on comics is his ‘favourite thing in the world’, and his influences include the aesthetics and attitude of the small-press and self-publishing scene in North America.

This bold and beautiful comic is full of sassy club-slinging sisters who you don’t wanna mess with...Ryan Heshka creates a subversive comic that re-interprets the image of the stereotypical 50’s female and gives a new and defiant voice to these ladies of leisure.

Based in Vancouver, Ryan Heshka is a self-taught artist and illustrator. His childhood influences of antiquated comics, pin-ups, pulp magazines, sci-fi, natural history, music and movies persist to this day, and his paintings are full of pop-culture references through the ages. Ryan primarily works in acrylic paint on wood panel, frequently embellishing with cuttings from pulp magazines.

The tattoo is an art form, a practice, and for some, a ritual. Its history is long and colourful, dating back to the Neolithic times. Today, similar markings can be obtained from the neon parlours that line our cities… Maybe it’s time to stop taking them so seriously!
