James MeeksStudent Trainer

James is a graduate student at N.C. A&T State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. He joins Technology

Training for a second year as he continues his education seeking a masters in software development.

James assists with the design of printed materials, web content and helps facilitate workshops for ITSDE.

AboutTechnology Training

As a part of ITSDE, Technology Training offers a variety of learning resources to empower students, faculty and staff. We offer in-person workshops, on-line learning experiences, as well as printable materials to help you Learn Your Way.

Technology Training is located in the 1020 Wendover building and the majority of our in-person workshops are hosted in the Faculty Resource Center, Suite 206, or in the Technology Training Lab on the ground floor.

Sara NevedalTechnology Trainer

Sara earned her Associate’s Degree in Visual Communications from Northwestern Michigan College and she studied Animation, Interactive

Technology, Video Graphics, and Special Effects at Kendall College of Art and Design, and Columbia College of Chicago. Sara is trained as an Adobe Creative Suite Instructor and she has certifications in Apple iOS Mobile, Apple Final Cut Pro, and Apple Aperture. Sara has over 11 years of experience in training and graphic design. Prior to joining N.C. A&T, she was a trainer with Apple, Inc. for 10 years where she provided workshops for customers, employees, and small businesses.

Technology Training offers a wide variety of in-person workshops. N. C. A&T students, faculty and staff can sign up for free hands-on training in any of three categories. Productivity offers learning experiences in the Microsoft Office applications.

Creativity includes workshops on the Adobe Creative Suite, design and other multimedia platforms. Finally, Teaching and Learning with Technology includes a variety of practical applications to incorporate technology in the classroom.

Access Getting Started Access databases can help you store and track just about any kind of information, such as inventory, contacts, or business processes. Explore the paths you can take to create an Access desktop database, add data to it, and then learn the basic concepts of forms, queries and reports. (Advanced courses available on lynda.ncat.edu)

Adobe Creative Suite*

Illustrator Essential TrainingNeed to create some graphic elements from scratch? Want to learn more about the power of vector images? Let’s jump into an introduction of Vector drawing concepts in this introductory course. We will create shapes and then apply colors, strokes, fills and effects. Learn about tools such as the pen, pencil, paint bucket and brushes. Finally, we will save and export our work for print or web.

InDesign Getting Started InDesign is an essential tool for designers, ad agencies, magazines, newspapers, book publishers, and freelancers around the world. It’s used to build everything from traditional print publications to interactive PDFs, digital magazines, and ebooks. This workshop is an introduction to the core features that make this page layout application so powerful, fun, and easy to use.

Photoshop Essential TrainingDo you want to add some professional visual touches to your presentations, documents and newsletters? Join us to learn practical Photoshop techniques you can use to edit and enhance images. Learn how to resize images without losing quality, how to sharpen images, and non-destructive techniques for retouching.

Recording and Editing Video with Windows Movie MakerDo you want to add video content to your on-line courses, presentations, website or other communications? Get some hands-on video experience! We will record a short video, import our video to Windows Movie Maker, edit it and learn how to publish.

iMovie for Mac Users Edit videos like a pro. This workshop will focus on getting comfortable with the fun and user friendly iMovie for OSX. Bring your own Mac or use one of ours for hands on practice importing media, organizing assets, working on the timeline and exporting to various hosts.
