It was a huge success and a lot of fun for our guests as well as all of us who participated. We had a great turnout of both guests and club members registered for the show. The weather cooperated and those who went on the Friday morning cruise had a good time and returned in time to clean their cars, pick up their registration packets and participate in our silent auction. Thanks to some awesome salesmanship, we set a new record for 50/50 ticket sales. In addition to a great car show, there were several fun activities Saturday at the mall. The food and entertainment Friday evening was enjoyed by many and we had record attendance at the Saturday evening banquet and band. Our guests are always pleased with our show - this year maybe more than ever! We hope you are planning to join us tomorrow for a short Labor Day cruise. It’s not too late to join us. And, don’t forget the longer cruise Jack Lovin is planning for October 14. We’ll hope the fall colors are out for that trip for lunch at the Ozark Cafe and to drive the Arkansas Tail of the Dragon and more. Remember to bring your nominations for charities to the September 11 meeting. We’ll be hearing from the charity representatives in October and will vote for our two 2018 non-profit organizations in November. We are still looking for 2018 officers. I plan to step down as president and need an interested and involved member to take my place. It is not a huge commitment of time, but is very important to the continued success of our club. We think we have a club secretary candidate but are still looking for a newsletter editor. Talk to Linda if you want more information on that position. Hope to see you all soon. Happy cruising! Dear Corvetters,

A huge thank you to every one of our members who helped in any way with our 2017 Summer’s End Corvette Show. October CruiseJack Lovin is planning a full-day cruise October 14 through an extremely rural and remote part of Arkansas. The route will take us through 7 different counties for a total of approximately 220 miles. 160 of those miles may have the largest number of curves in Arkansas and possibly in the U.S. This includes a section that is known as the Arkansas Tail of the Dragon. We’ll meet at 9:15 a.m. and leave at 9:30 from the parking lot at the junction of Hwy. 265 South/Crossover Road and Hwy. 16/Huntsville Road near the Rolling Pin Café (2565 East Huntsville Road, Fayetteville). We will enjoy a late lunch in Jasper at the Ozark Café around 2:00 p.m. and return through Springdale late in the afternoon or early evening.Due to the rural nature of the cruise, radios are highly advised. Please RSVP to Jack by October 12 if you plan to join the group: 479-936-4885 or [email protected].

Randy Whitis has scheduled anoher open race day on the course at Hallet, Oklahoma on September 20. This track time is a lot of fun. They will have room for up to 20 cars and cost will be $200 each if we have 20. They will run drivers in 20 minute stints with staggered start so there is not a lot of traffic. Instruction is available. Drivers must have a Snell approved car helmet, long pants, long sleeved shirt and close-toed shoes. Top speed for Corvettes on the track is typically about 100 – 120 mph. You can go as fast as you want. They will group drivers so people go about same speed. You can run other cars instead of Corvettes. Give Randy a call if you are interested 479-531-3231.
