It’s been another busy and eventful year for us!

Unlike most training organisations, Novadata is more than just a training provider.

Our service and product portfolio includes the supply of tachograph equipment, software and analysis. We also offer an expert witness service and Drivers’ Hours Law Helpline, so we are forced to keep abreast of all legislation and fully appreciate wider transport issues. And it’s this broader understanding that underpins our relationship with The Professional Drivers Foundation.

Novadata News Update

Novadata Adds PTLLS to Training Portfolio

Novadata has now launched a new five day City and Guilds instructor-led course designed for trainers looking to establish a training portfolio and gain the PTLLS Level 3 Award.

In September 2007, the government introduced new regulations to reform the training and qualifications of teachers, tutors, trainers and instructors. These changes impact on all those delivering learning within the further education sector (including work based learning).

If your organisation delivers internal training courses (publicly funded/Train to Gain etc), or provides work based learning (NVQ’s etc) then the changes are of relevance to you.

The list includes those:

–Training or instructing

–Tutoring

–Teaching key or functional skills

–Planning and running inductions

–Coaching in the workplace

–Delivering underpinning knowledge

The new professional qualifications are:

1. Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) – City & Guild 7303

2. Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) – City & Guilds 7304

3. Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) – City & Guilds 7305

This introductory award provides a ‘stepping stone’ to teaching in the lifelong learning sector, and the qualifications required of the associate and full teaching roles defined in the Qualified Teacher Framework.

From this year, it’s imperative that every trainer should be working towards this entry level qualification. It provides a genuine, recognised standard which empowers trainers, training departments, and training providers.

Have you heard about our new legal service?

We offer a choice of over 140 hours Driver CPC training…

Novadata Transport Training in collaboration with Pellys Transport & Regulatory Law is now offering a legal compliance service for its clients. —

Pellys Transport & Regulatory Law is one of the leading transport law firms in the UK with over 25 years experience in advising operators. Novadata has been providing transport training and support services for over 20 years.

The new service - based on a fixed yearly fee* - will provide operators with all necessary routine legal services and advice relating to any aspect of their operation, including all employment issues. It will incorporate advice on any correspondence received from the licensing authority and the appropriate response to it. In addition, it will embrace all necessary advice and representation

of the operator and its employees in connection with investigations by the police or VOSA.

*For example, the fee will be less than £500.00 for a six vehicle fleet. This is easily justifiable when compared to the number of hours required at usual solicitors’ rates for critical tasks such as representing operators at VOSA interviews under caution, defending them when they are prosecuted or called to Public Inquiry which can easily run into many thousands of pounds.

Top Marks for Su!

Novadata’s Executive Director, Su Winch, has enjoyed a year of transport achievement.

Sue has successfully passed all the examinations (Modules 1, 2 and 4) to gain her CPC Freight National. She has also completed her ADR training, passing the mandatory Core Module, Package Module, Tanker Module and Dangerous Goods Classes 2-6, 8 and 9. Since completing her ADR training, Su has been invited and accepted the position of committee member on the National Dangerous Goods Training Consortium.

Chris Joins the Team We have recently welcomed Chris Shelford as a trainer. Chris, who has a background in Formula 1 and over 20 years experience in the industry, brings a wealth of expertise to the Novadata training team. Chris will take responsibility for a number of courses including the very popular and timely Driver CPC Fuel Efficiency module.

has become patron of the Professional Drivers Foundation. The PDF is a charity very close to our hearts and we believe this is a significant milestone for the organisation.

The Professional Drivers Association (PDA) has established the Professional Drivers Foundation (PDF) as a charity specifically aimed at lorry drivers. PDA founder and spokeswoman, Pat Nicholson explains: “The Foundation was formed primarily for the welfare of lorry drivers. The Haulage Industry is one of the UK’s largest employers, providing a vital livelihood for thousands of HGV drivers, many of whom are over 50 years of age. It is subject to tight regulation, by which a driver can lose the right to work by the revocation of his or her licence by the DVLA. The PDF feels there is a need to provide some help, both financial and advisory, to anyone holding a vocational driving licence and in need of support through no fault of their own. It also aims to help with retraining where a lorry driver, through ill health, finds he is unable to return to driving and needs support in finding other work.”

Steve said: “Having had a few accidents on the tracks over my racing career, it is good to see a charity specifically supporting lorry drivers, who we all know are the lifeline of this Country. I am very honoured to be associated with the Professional Drivers Foundation.”

Driver as Ambassador is a particularly dynamic module.
