Shelly RannShelly Rann is a singer’s singer. Soulful, resonant, alto singer with a wide range. She is a singer- songwriter which gives her the advantage to interpret a lyric and mood of a song as opposed to merely singing it. Shelly can easily perform Country, pop, R&B, soul; but more so then a genre, she can perform the individual needs of a song. Shelly Rann is a singer/songwriter who’s talent and hard work has finally caught the attention of the Nashville music

industry and she stands ready to join the ranks of the great talents that have come before her. A Lexington, Ky. Native she has been in Nashville for the last five years writing with some of the best song writers Nashville has to offer. www.shellyrann.com

Megan ConnerMegan Conner has been noted as an entertainer, a spit-fire, the real deal. Born in North Carolina, raised in Texas and moved to Nashville by way of New York City - Megan is a combination of northern class and southern sass. With her soulful and gritty voice, she performs songs that are energy-packed and some that go right to the heart. In 2008, she was a top 4 finalist on the Next GAC Star and is blessed to work with some of Nashville’s top songwriters and musicians. When it all

comes down to it, it’s all about the music to Megan. Megan says,”I want to create music that moves people. I want to make people laugh, cry, FEEL. Music is life put to melody, so I hope that through my music, people can see who I am, what I’ve been through, and hopefully through that – they will find a piece of themselves in one of my songs.” www.meganconner.com

Saints of HavanaImagine driving your convertible on the most beautiful day, on a road to wherever you wish, surrounded by calm oceans and palm tree filled islands as far as the eye can see, the breeze flowing through your hair. This pretty much describes the sound and energy of Saints of Havana. This Nashville based Pop Country Trio, comprised of Cuban brothers Rey and Cesar Montecristo and American singer Aaron Shea have made it their life work to bring a quality and integrity to their

songwriting, which can be felt as well as heard. Through their music and connection to their audience, they are fast making a name for themselves in Music City. www.saintsofhavana.com

novemBer 2*this week on the BiLLy BLock showDavid Jacobs-StrainDavid Jacobs-Strain has come a long way from his days slugging a bamboo gear cart with a tattered “Delta Blues” sign through the Oregon Country Fair mud at the age of 13. He’s toured clubs and festivals nationwide, traversing the Sierra Nevada and Siskiyou mountains and navigating urban jungles of the East before landing in Nashville to cut a world-class recording of powerful original songs at

the legendary studio of Ray Kennedy. His outrageous guitar work jumps from wild fingerstyle to slide and percussive drive with a depth and fluidity that produces enough tone to rival any jam band. And his voice carries an emotional intensity that the songs demand. His guitar style, both thundering and shimmering, has landed him onstage alongside performers like Taj Mahal and Bob Weir. www.DavidJacobs-Strain.com

Shawn JonesArmed with a powerful and affecting voice, as well as virtuoso guitar skills that recall a bunch of blues greats, Shawn Jones also writes compelling songs that prove to be the icing on the cake. Shawn has been creating quite a buzz overseas, touring in the U.K. and Ireland and appearing on BBC radio where his music has found a new home and has been getting extensive airplay. Shawn was one of the only artists

ever to be managed by the late, great Waylon Jennings, which earned him the opportunity to tour and record with Waylon. With four albums, international touring, several film & television placements, and guitarist for Deana Carter, Shawn Jones stays one busy guy! www.shawnjonesmusic.com

Sammi MooreBorn and raised in Jasper, Tennessee, Sammi Moore didn’t always know she wanted to be a singer; it was more of a subtle recognition. Now, a four-year Nashville resident with countless shows and sessions under her belt, Moore is working on taking her career to the next level. A co-writer on all of her songs, Moore draws on her 24 years of life for inspiration. She describes her signature sound as a hybrid of country, Americana,

and southern rock. “CCR meets Tom Petty meets Trisha Yearwood.” Moore plays more than 50 shows a year, touring the southeast with her band of more than four years. Because she pours her soul into each song, a Sammi Moore show is an unmatched experience as each perfor-mance exudes her true passion for music. www.sammimoore.com

He’s written songs with some of Music Row’s finest, toured extensively and opened for such greats as Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley and Gary Allan just to name a few. Bethany DickSomehow, Nashville has wooed her back from Atlanta after four years of session playing, to write, sing and perform in the music city again. Bethany Dick-Olds played fiddle for both Sara Evans and Pam Tillis when she lived here in the early 2000’s, and has released two albums and an EP of her own in

the last several years. She is originally from Montana, and her love of bluegrass and mountain music is evident in her songs. She has won several fiddle competitions nationwide, a Merlefest songwriting competition in 2001, and had a song cut last year with Sara Evans on an album called Glory Revealed 2. myspace.com/bethanydick

Jessica CayneJessica Cayne began writing and performing her own tunes at age 11. Her love of music, singing and performing took her to the stage in high school with performances in the repertory company as lead actress in many of the musicals and dramas. She attended college on a musical theatre scholarship until the pursuit of her own music took center stage. Jessica’s music is southern, soulful, country-rock. If Steven Tyler and Dolly Parton had a love

child, it would be Jessica Cayne, rocking like Aerosmith with the honesty and grace of Dolly in her lyrics. With a performance style that is unex-pected from a Georgia “peach”, Jessica’s guitar based writing drives her stage presence and her tunes. “Raising Cayne” her newest CD is out now! www.jessicacayne.com

Featuring brothers Justin and Ryan Harris, the boys packed their bags in 2005 and relocated to Nashville. Recently McKenzies Mill completed their self titled sophmore project and have set their sights on spreading their

unique blend of harmony based southern rock/country. Combining down home subject matter and a natural story telling ability their lyrics take the audience on journeys from the campfire to the barstool, down dirt roads and blacktops, slinging gravel and finding plenty of trouble along the way. Through unique guitar based anthems and soaring harmonies that can only be captured by brothers, McKenzies Mill promises “one hell of a ride!”. myspace.com/mckenziesmill

Mile Marker 7Mile Marker 7 was founded by the brothers McElroy officially in January 2000. Unofficially, Mitchell, Jordan ,and Sean have been playing music together since the mid nineties. Beginning with their varied musical exposure, brought about in their early years by their father’s love of music, they’ve continued to

build upon this foundation of Motown, blues, and rock and roll to form something that is uniquely their own . A writing style coupled with vocal harmonies that only blood can conjure up, and a bond on stage it takes years to create. www.milemarker7.com

Margaret PhillipsPart blue-eyed dream weaver and part scorched-soul poetess, Margaret Phillips has a captivating freshness seldom seen in emerging songwriters and vocalists today. The all-American wholesome-ness is genuine, the authentic product of growing up on a farm in the Mississippi Delta. Margaret’s debut CD “I Won’t Let This Heart Ache” was recorded at Star Struck Studio and Omni Sound

and produced by multi award winning, Grammy nominated recording artist and songwriter, Deborah Allen. In her original songs Margaret taps into the deep recesses of the human spirit writing from a place that spans not only her experience but also the dreams and searing losses of others. Kristin & CoryIf one considers the point where country music’s best traditions intersect with its future, it may very well be in the music of identical twin sisters, Kristin & Cory. The timeless beauty of family harmony has long maintained a rich tradition in the pantheon of country music. Even

before the pioneering success of sisters Sara and Maybelle Carter, family harmony has always been an integral part of the modern country music era. It’s no less a defining tradition for Kristin & Cory, who have been entertaining audiences since their early teens. Given their melodic sibling harmonies, captivating stage presence and dynamic personalities, without question, these girls are destined for country music stardom. www.myspace.com/kristinandcory

The Least Of Your Worries Only together a few months, this trio of Nashville high school students is turning heads in the music community. They just completed their first self-titled LP, “The Least of Your Worries.” The most impressive thing about this band, aside from their youth (the oldest member is 17),

is the confidence, ease and authority with which they perform. With a seasoned stage presence beyond their years, original songs, and an unforgettable signature vocal blend, their performance is infectious and fun. Combining influences spanning Buddy Holly, The Beatles, King Crimson and Cream, they have a sound that honors the innovations and talent of rock’s last 50 years, but points forward to the next wave of great music. It just might be theirs. www.myspace.com/theleastofyourworries

Lynne HansonSome call it country, some call it roots-and-blues, others call it rougharound- the-edges folk. Lynne Hanson calls it porch music with a little Texas red dirt. Don’t go labelling her a country crooner. But Hanson sure knows how to share her troubles in a song. With an open heart and not a hint of sentimentality, Hanson sings simply and honestly about loss and the search for redemption. Blessed with a soulful

voice that’s been compared to Gillian Welch and Mary Chapin Carpenter, Hanson is one of the most captivating female singer-songwriters on the Americana scene today, receiving rabid applause from enamoured critics and devoted fans in Canada, the US Southwest, Europe and Australia. www.lynnehanson.com

The RosesThe Roses consists of Alex Whitaker, Chad Rinehart, and Allen Eason. In 2008, Chad and Alex moved to NYC; now they are in Nashville. They have cut their DEBUT album, and YOU need to hear it! This self-titled album is full of old-school rock ‘n’ roll swagger. The album was recorded at

Welcome To 1979 studio and mastered by Jim DeMain at Yes Master, both in Nashville. Industry professionals Audley Freed (Black Crowes, Peter Frampton), Cory Younts (Old Crow Medicine Show), Jim Reilley (The New Dylans), and Costo Davis (Alabama, Shania Twain) played on the album, as well as many up-and-coming Nashvillians. The Roses is currently booking a winter tour. http://therosesrock.com/

Brian DesveauxBrian is no stranger to the music industry. He immersed himself into his hometown NY scene, and found himself in a band with 4 of his best friends: Nine Days. Nine Days took them out of Long Island and into the rest of the country, with nothing stopping them till they hit Number One

on the Top 40 charts in 2001 with the gold selling single “ABSOLUTELY-STORY OF A GIRL” Now residing in Nashville BRIAN has the devotion and the willingness to get back to where it started. THE SONG! Settling down in a house on a hill somewhere in Franklin Tennesse writing everyday, alone, or with co-writers,while still having a love for the Road, While still touring with and making music with Ninedays, or touring playing guitar for various acts as Miranda Lambert. myspace.com/briandesveaux

Lucciana CostaFreshly embarking into her twenties, Lucciana has an incredible amount of diverse musical experiences. Her life and music have become so intertwined that, when asked what kind of songs she writes, she honestly answers, “I don’t know.” They are the songs from a four-year-old girl who got up at the crack of dawn to write stories of the stuff she thought about. They are songs from the genes of a jazz musician; they’re the heartbreaking words of

an old country song and the energy of playing The Who’s “Baba O’ O’Riley” with Uses for Wood while the crowd went nuts. They are the songs of a girl who has settled into her own style. Musically and lyrically her songs are glimpses into who Lucciana Costa is, which could be why so many are drawn to her music. The thrill of putting life to music is why she is an artist, and why she is the kind of artist who quickly becomes one you can’t get enough of. www.luccianacosta.com
