Our staff and volunteers have put in countless hours to make this tournament a success and we are looking forward to seeing some excellent, hard fought cricket.

I would like to thank all our sponsors and backers for their ongoing support. In particular, I would like to thank the President of Emilio Aguinaldo College, Dr. Jose Campos, for his invaluable assistance, not just with this tournament, but for supporting the ongoing development of cricket in the Philippines.

Jane Livesey – ICC Development Manager East Asia PacificThe International Cricket Council has committed to T20 cricket being the global format of the game, and in line with that we are committed to playing as many tournaments as possible in our members. Therefore, I am delighted that we can bring this tournament to the Philippines, the first ever international cricket tournament in the Philippines.

Further, the ICC has announced the ICC World T20 has been renamed to the ICC T20 World Cup. The elevation of the World T20 to a World Cup outlines the importance of the shortest format of the game for all 104 Members. T20 is the global growth vehicle for cricket, and it is important that all Members can aspire to play in a T20 ‘World Cup’.

To all four teams, play well and take pride in upholding the values and spirit of our sport. In years to come you’ll look back on this event with fond memories and hopefully new friendships. For the top nation it will also mean you will take the next step towards the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. That is an exciting prospect and has no doubt driven all of you to put in the hard work preparing over the past few months.

We’re very grateful for the continuing support we get in the EAP region from Cricket Australia, which is evident again at this event. Bob Stratford, along with Nathan Johnstone, join us to support the development of our officials. Also, we are delighted to welcome our EAP umpires; Hitesh Sharma (Philippines), Bri Olewale (PNG), and Suresh Subramanian (Indonesia).

I would like to acknowledge all the people that have worked so hard to make this event a success. We are delighted to welcome Toby Cohen to the EAP region, and to his first EAP tournament. And finally, thanks to Rob Gomm who has worked tirelessly with Faisal Khan and the team from the Philippine Cricket Association to put on a great tournament and showcase this stunning part of the world.
