NWT
A series of webcasts showcasing thefestivals and cultural events
from NWTcommunities and designed to bring a tasteour cultures to
the world.
Short segments will document the dailyhappenings and will be
inserted in ascheduled LIVE webcast later that dayand mixed in with
live interviews and/orevents.
A text based chat room on the same pageas the webcast will
enable participants toask questions and communicate directlywith us
in the NWT.
The pre-recorded videos and segments ofthe live webcasts will be
archived on thewebsite and YouTube.

What is a webcast?
A webcast is a media file distributed overthe Internet using
streaming mediatechnology to distribute a single contentsource to
many simultaneous listeners/viewers. A webcast may either
bedistributed live or on demand. Essentially,webcasting is
broadcasting over theInternet.
The largest "webcasters" include existingradio and TV stations,
who "simulcast"their output, as well as a multitude ofInternet only
"stations". The termwebcasting usually refers to non-nteractive
linear streams or events.Rights and licensing bodies offer
specific
"webcasting licenses" to those wishing tocarry out Internet
broadcasting usingcopyrighted material.
Webcasting is also used extensively in thecommercial sector for
investor relationspresentations (such as Annual GeneralMeetings),
in E-learning (to transmitseminars), and for relatedcommunications
activities.

interactwith the webcast... and also allows for
almost unlimited storage / archiving /viewing of program

so both these social media canand will be used to promote
bothupcoming webcasts. concerts and livefeed segments.
