TAPPAT - LV UNDERGROUND LINK BOX

The purpose of the underground link box is identical to that of an above ground link pillar. It allows the network to parallel or isolate low voltage mains cables only this time, using the diving-bell principle, it is housed in a totally submersible underground pit. Perfect for situations where council bylaws stipulate underground installations only.

KEY FEATURES

• Complete LV switching and Isolating system

• 2way & 4 way options available

• Safe and economical to install & operate

• Fully submersible

• Aesthetically pleasing in ground installation

• Eliminates above ground consent issues

• Range taking up to 300mm² mains cable

• Fully insulated CAMLOK link

• Pit and lid meet B125 & EN124 standards, lid can hold 45Nm/mm2

• Modular pit design for differing final ground levels (165mm–465mm supplied as standard)

• Tested to 600 Amps

Designed collaboratively with our utility customers, the Tappat underground link box is perfect for new installations or as a like for like replacement for existing bitumen filled link boxes at the end of their asset life.

Available untailed or pre-tailed with flexible copper tails ready to joint to existing cables on site. It is available in 2way or 4way configuration with 600amp CAMLOK links included.

MXSE - LIVE END SEALS, 11 & 22KV

The Raychem MXSE product is designed very close to MXSU inline joint with an application range from 70 to 1000mm². No special crimping tools are required for the installation. The cable can be energised immediately after installation. Third party damage to cable can be caused by heavy vehicles, such as excavation machinery, etc., during construction work. The live end seals allow partially installed networks to be energised, and therefore enable the detection of third party damage as soon as it occurs. The end seal protects the cable against moisture ingress.

The end seal is designed to fit most polymeric cables up to 36kV using copper wire or tape shielding according to IEC, VDE and BS cable specs. MXSE live end seals have been designed and tested in accordance with CENELEC HD 629.1 S1 specification. The new concept is based on standard all in one MXSU inline joint kits including mechanical connector. Stress control is provided on the cable side by application of a heat shrinkable sleeve and stress grading mastic at the screen. A polypropylene insulation rod is inserted into the other connector entry. Covering the connector area also with stress grading tape, the Rayfit joint body provides the appropriate and screening. Shielding is maintained by application of copper mesh around the joint body connecting the earth wires. A heavy wall sealing sleeve with integrated hot melt adhesive provides adequate sealing and outer protection.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

• Complete product line up to 36kV using large application ranges

• Suitable for both, wire- and tape shielded cables

• Installation requires no special tools or crimping dies

• Design and installation basis is very close to standard MXSU joints

• Energising can take place immediately after installation

• Covers all commercial cable sizes

• Protects cable against moisture ingress

• Enables detection of third party damage

MXSE Live End Seals are used to insulate & seal the ends of MV polymeric & PILC cables.

AMP WRENCH-LOK EARTHING CONNECTOR & CORRECT INSTALLATION

IRW13/17 The perfect

tool!

CORRECT INSTALLATION OF WRENCHLOK & SHEARLOK CONNECTORSIt is imperative these connectors are installed as outlined in the manufacturer's instructions to ensure the correct connection is made. These bolts were designed to have a controlled drive applied to them. The instant shock loading a rattle gun applies can make the head shear prematurely and therefore it is outlined in the instructions that installation is to be made with a hand operated tool.

WRENCH-LOK Grounding Connector - IEEE Standard 837

The WRENCH-LOK electrical grounding connector system provides a superior, fool-proof connection while reducing application time dramatically. Using a specially designed shear-head bolt to drive a tapered wedge into the connector body, all that’s needed to apply it is a common ratchet or socket wrench. When the connection is tightened to the correct torque, the bolt head shears off, giving a positive visual indication of a perfect connection – It’s that simple!

No special training, no special tools, no auxiliary power, able to be installed in any weather, conductor-to-conductor or conductor-to-ground rod connections, WRENCHLOK is the answer.

Test Results for Copper Ground Grid Connectors

IEEE Standard 837 Overall, connectors meet all requirements necessary to be considered qualified for permanent grounding connections used in substation grounding.

A. Mechanical Pullout Connectors exceeded min. standard pullout requirements by wide margin.

B. Electromagnetic Force Connectors withstood high mechanical and heating stresses of short circuit currents, well within standard.

C. Sequential Tests 1. Current-Temperature Cycling – Connectors ran much cooler than control conductor & resistance remained low & stable.

2. Freeze-Thaw – Resistance of connectors remained stable, demonstrating connectors are not affected by extreme temperature changes.

3. Corrosion-Nitric Acid – Acid did not penetrate contact interface and resistance remained stable.

4. Fault Current – Connectors withstood severe mechanical and heating stresses with very slight increase in joint resistance, well within standard.

Thermal Shock and Accelerated Corrosion

Stable performance indicates connectors will not be adversely affected by extreme environmental conditions.

Torque of Bolt vs. Resistance of Connection

Connection resistance stable at point much below nominal torque.

Torque of Bolt vs. Deflection

Connector designed with sufficient strength and spring qualities to maintain body resilient contact force for dependable, longterm connection.

Tensile vs. Deflection Connector body designed with sufficient strength to withstand extreme overload mechanical forces.

FEATURES• Safety – Parallel moving contact system.

Double clearance in each pole splits electric arc into two parts. Two arc chutes in each pole are equipped with metal plates that stretch and further split electric arc during switching off of the circuit. Such design greatly increases efficiency of arc extinction and provides controlled exhaust of arc plasma.

• Plastics – Self extinguishing and non-drip, these units are made of halogen free, fibreglass reinforced materials.

• Contacts – Silver plated electrotechnical Copper offers low power losses and high conductivity. Four contact areas mean less heat and wear. Arc horns reduce erosion.

• Functionality – Fast installation to busbar, indepentently removable fuse link covers mean only opening the cover where the fuse link operated and fuse link can be changed without having to touch it. Voltage tests can be made through the test holes on the fuselink covers.
