Geografiska Annaler · 81 A (1999) ·3 359 Professor emeritus Anders Rapp, the internationally known geomorpho- logist, passed away on December 27, 1998. During his last year Anders Rapp initiated and, together with a group of other Swedish scientist, carried out investigations on severe rainstorms, notably on that which struck Fulu- fjäll, a mountain in central Sweden, in August 1997. The consequences for vegetation and substrate formed part of the study. A section of issue No. 3, 1999, of Geografiska Annaler Series A, had been reserved for the pre- sentation of the results of this study. Unhappily, Anders Rapp was not to see them published. The following four papers comprising the results of the rainstorm study are dedicated to the late Professor Anders Rapp in honory of an eminent scientist. Jan 0.
