DRS CREED

UNLESS THERE IS CLEAR

EVIDENCE,

THE ON-FIELD

UMPIRES

DECISION WILL

STAND

In all cases of

review, if the

replays are not

conclusive, the

on-field umpire’s

original

decision,

whether ‘out’ or

‘not out’, will

stand.

Player Review

• A player may request a review of a decision taken by the on-field umpires concerning whether a batsman is dismissed. No other decisions made by the umpires (such as wides, leg-byes etc) are eligible for a player review

• It is not a referral system because the final decision remains with the on-field umpire.

• The decision is: reviewed by - not referred to - the 3rd umpire.

• The original decision remains unless it is clearly an error.

General Notes: in LBWs

• IMPACT - between wicket and wicket -‘the MAT’

• WICKETS - Includes bails and stumps

• Zone of Certainty - slightly smaller inner wickets area

• UMPIRES CALL – means the original decision stands

unless the centre of the ball is inside or the whole ball is outside these zones.

• 3rd Umpires - relay information to on-field umpires – they do not try to make the decisions.

General Notes: LBW Summary

• OUT – centre of the ball is inside

• NOT OUT – whole ball is completely outside

• UMPIRES CALL – part of the ball covers either the mat or the wickets and supports the on-field umpire’s decision in an OUT but not clear enough to change a NOT OUT

• “Umpires Call” – on an LBW means - don’t change that part

of the call but check other areas.
