Charges are per unit which covers registration, administration, moderation and certification.

Charges are detailed in ‘Section J’ of the Examinations Handbook available on the website www.ccea.org.uk

The role of a Moderator • Advise on the standardisation of assessments of

coursework in line with unit specifications.

• The moderator will approve grading decisions by tutors or make alterations in line with specification.

• Support / advise tutors on :– The tasks associated with coursework;– The use of assessment criteria;– The use and interpretation of the sample

materials supplied to centres.

What the tutor should do

• Provide a mark out of 25 for each candidate.

Only whole numbers should be used.

• Check evidence for each Learner.

• Evidence should be provided as to how this mark was arrived at for each learner.

What the lecturer should do

• Provide a mark out of 25 for each candidate.

• Evidence should be provided as to how this mark was arrived at for each learner.

What the Tutor should do

• Tutor must complete all necessary TAC 1 sheets accurately in preparation for moderators visit.

• Ensure all details are included on the TAC 1:

– Centre name and number;

– Unit code and name;

-- Learner name and number.

_ A separate TAC 1 form should be completed for each school and for each unit.

Clear evidence of verification / internal standardisation has taken

place

The Moderator will ask the tutor or some one in charge to complete a confirmation

of moderation outcome. • Agree the

‘Confirmation of moderation outcome’.

• White copyretained by moderator

• Pink copyretained by centre

Sample Evidence Centres may be asked by the visiting moderator to give CCEA

someexample(s) of learner evidence. The Moderator must provide the centre with a receipt.

The Moderator will complete a report about each visit.

• This report will be sent out to the teaching centre by CCEA.

• If action points are identified Centres should be deal with them as soon as possible.
