› January 17, the President signed H.R. 3547, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2014, to fund the government through the remainder of Fiscal Year 2014. It is Public Law 113-76.

› Provisions related to Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) include:o Renaming OVAE the Office of Career, Technical, and

Adult Education (now OCTAE)o A total budget of $1,702,686,000 for career and technical

education and adult education (which is an increase of 3.4 percent from FY 2013 appropriations)

› Adult Educationo Level funding for AEFLA state formula grants, at

$577,667,000 (same as FY2013 appropriation)o$3 million increase for National Leadership Activities

o Level funding for integrated English literacy and civics education, at $70,811,000 (same as FY2013 appropriation)

› PerkinsoApproximate 5 percent increase for CTE state grants

(funded at $1,125,019,000) and level funding for CTE national programs

› Performance Partnership Pilotso Allows the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and

Education, to establish up to 10 Performance Partnership pilots aimed at improving outcomes for disconnected youth.

o Agencies would have the flexibility to pool existing discretionary funds from multiple funding streams to promote better education, employment, and key outcomes for youth.

› Let us know if you are planning a new competition this year, and the proposed date of the competition.

I would change this to "in PY 2014-15" because if they are holding a competition in Spring 2014, they should have told us in the plan they submitted last year. The extension they are submitting in April will cover July 1, 2014 - June 30, 2015 and they need to tell us if they plan to conduct a competition during that time frame.
