HVAC GENERAL NOTES
1. THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH ALL MATERIAL, LABOR, EQUIPMENT APPURTENANCES, AND ALL
CONTRACTUAL EXPENSES REQUIRED FOR THE COMPLETE INSTALLATION OF THE MECHANICAL SYSTEM TO THE
SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER, ARCHITECT, AND MECHANICAL ENGINEER.
2. THE INSTALLATION SHALL COMPLY WITH & BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL LEGALLY CONSTITUTED
AUTHORITIES & CODES HAVING JURISDICTION. ALSO ALL THE REQUIREMENTS OF LANDLORD.
3. THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL GUARANTEE ALL EQUIPMENT, APPARATUS, ACCESSORIES (I.E., THE
ENTIRE INSTALLATION) AS FURNISHED BY HIM FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR.
4. THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN & PAY FOR ALL PERMITS, LICENSES & INSPECTIONS REQUIRED
TO COMPLETE THIS JOB.
5. COORDINATE THE SIZE, LOCATION, @ SERVICE REQUIREMENTS OF ALL MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT & DUCTWORK
WITH THE GENERAL, PLUMBING, ELEC.CONTROL, & FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR PRIOR TO THE START OF
CONSTRUCTION. REPORT ALL UNRESOLVED CONFLICTS TO THE ARCHITECT.
6. COORDINATE THE LOCATION OF ALL DIFFUSER, REGISTER, GRILLES WITH THE ARCHITECTURAL PLAN.
7. ALL SHEET METAL DUCTWORK SHALL BE NEW GALVANIZED SHEET METAL DUCT GAUGES, CONSTRUCTION,
SUPPORT, AND INSTALLATION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CALIFORNIA MECHANICAL CODE 2010
8. BALANCE AND ADJUST ALL DIFFUSERS, REGISTERS, ETC. FOR OPTIMUM AIRDISTRIBUTION AND MINIMUM NOISE.
SUBMIT A CERTIFIED AIR BALANCE REPORTTO THE MECHANICAL ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL. BALANCING OF THE
SYSTEMS SHALL BE PERFORMED BY AN INDEPENDENT CERTIFIED TEST AND BALANCING AGENCY WHIC
SPECIALIZES IN THE BALANCING AND TESTING OF HEATING, VENTILATING ANDAIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS.
9. AS-BUILT RECORD PRINTS MUST BE PROVIDED PRIOR TO JOB COMPLETION.
10. PROVIDE ALL TRANSITIONS AS REQUIRED FROM MAIN DUCT OR BRANCHES TO DIFFUSERS, REGISTERS, OR
GRILLES. PROVIDE MVD FOR EACH BRANCH.
11. CEILING DIFFUSERS SHALL BE ANEMOSTAT RMD-S OR APPROVED EQUAL MODULAR WIH OBD.
12. SIDEWALL SUPPLY REGISTERS SHALL BE DOUBLE DEFLECTION GRILLE WITH OPOSED BLADE DAMPER
ATTACHED, TWO SETS OF INDIVIDUALLY ADJUSTABLE LOUVER, ANEMOSTAT S2HO
13. EXHAUST AIR AND RETURN AIR REGISTERS SHALL BE ANEMOSTAT S3HOD, HORIZONTAL FACE BARS SET AN
ANGLE OF 45-DEGREES WITH OBD AND FLEXIBLE DUCT ADAPTOR.
14. FLEXIBLE CONNECTION SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR ALL DUCT WORK ATTACHED TO AIR MOVING EQUIPMENT
MOUNTED ON OR SUSPENDED FROM VIBRATION ISOLATIONS. FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS SHALL BE CODE
APPROVED NEOPRENE COATED GLASS TYPE FABRIC.
15. THE ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING CONTRACTORS SHALL PROVIDE FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS AT ALL MECHANICAL
EQUIPMENT MOUNTED ON VIBRATION ISOLATORS AND OR SUSPENDED FROM VIBRATION HANGER.
16. ALL AIR CONDINTIONING FILTERS SHALL BE REPLACED PRIOR ON DAY OF BALANCING.
17. ALL EQUIPMENT TO BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTION
18. AFFIX MAINTENANCE LABELS TO MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT AND PROVIDE THE OWNER WITH MAINTENANCE AND
PARTS MANUALS., LABEL ALL EQUIPMENT WITH THE NAME OF SPACE IT SERVES.
19. SEAL ALL DUCT JOINTS WITH AN APPROVED TYPE MASTIC.
20. ALL DUCTS PENETRATING THE ROOF SHALL HAVE APPROVED FLASHING AND COUNTER-FLASHING AND BE
WEATHER PROOFED.
21. CONTRACTOR TO THOROUGHLY CLEAN ALL PORTIONS OF THEIR WORK, REMOVE ALL DEBRIS AND LEAVE
INSTALLATION IN PERFECT CONDITION READY FOR USE.
22. CONDENSER REFRIGERANT PIPING IN THE STRUCTURE SHALL BE INSTALLED SO AS NOT TOUCH STRUCTURE,
FRAMING, OR WALL SURFACES. INSTALL FOAM RUBBER CUSHIONS AT PENETRATIONS TO SEPERATE PIPING
FROM STRUCTURE.
23. DUCT INSTALLATION: FOR THERMAL INSULATION, INSULATE ALL SUPPLY AND RETURN AIR DUCT WORK AND
PLENUM WITH 2" THICK FIBERGLASS INSULATION WRAPPED AROUND WITH 2" OVERLAP AND WIRED ON #18
GALVANIZED WIRE @ 12" O.C. NRC RATING SHALL BE AT LEAST .80 AT FREQUENCIES ABOVE 1000. ALL DUCTS
SHALL HAVE JOINTS AND SEAMS SEALED. FOR SOUND INSULLATION, INSULATE INTERIOR OF SUPPLY AND
RETURN AIR PLENUMS WITH MIN. 1" THICK SOUND INTERIOR OF SUPPLY AND RETURN AIR PLENUMS WITH MIN. 1"
THICK SOUND ABSORBING INSULATION TO REDUCE NOISE. INSTALL SOUND STRAPS IN PLENUM AND INSULATE
BLOWER COMPARTMENT WHERE RETURN AIR REGISTERS ARE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO UNITS.
24. LABEL ALL EQUIPMENT (AC) TO INDICATE THE SPACE NAME THAT IT IS SERVING.
25. DUCT SYSTEM SHOWN ON THE PLANS ARE SIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASHRAE EQUAL FRICTION METHOD
(CHAPTER 35,2005 ASHRAE HANDBOOK).
