THE OFFICIAL OHIO NATIONAL PRIDE PAGEANTRULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Ohio National Pride is a closed state pageant system. Contestants are welcome from alladjoining states. However contestants must qualify for the state pageant through a citypreliminary pageant in order to qualify for the state level competition.

2. Contestants must have been born male and must have reached the legal age of twenty-one(21) prior to the date of the pageant. Proof of age, such as a drivers license/state issuedidentification card, birth certificate, etc., must be provided to the promoter of the pageant, ifrequested. If for any reason the promoter finds cause to investigate the age of the contestant,reasonable measures will be taken to ensure that the contestants meets the minimum agerequirement. If the contestants age cannot be validated the contestant will be disqualified.

3. Judging will be based on a total points-accumulated system. In the event of a TIE, the winnerwill be determined by the highest talent score. If there is a tie in the talent scores, the tie must bebroken by an onstage question involving the top 5 contestants.

4. Contestants will be judged in the following categories: Creative Evening/Formal Wear, OnStage Question and Answer, Talent, and Interview.

5. The use of any illegal drugs or the dispensing of any illegal drugs will not be tolerated whilethe contestants are participating in the official Miss Ohio National Pride Pageant

6. Talent will be limited to seven (7) minutes. Prop set-up will be limited to two (2) minutes.

Prop takedown will also be limited to two (2) minutes. Prop set-up and takedown times are notincluded in the seven- (7) minute talent time. You will have a total of eleven (11) minutes. If acontestant exceeds the time limits, they will receive a score of zero (0) for the talent category.

7. Any type of talent presentation is acceptable except those that may cause injury to you orothers. NO PYROTECHNICS are permitted (fire, flash pots, flaming batons, etc.). The use ofauthentic-looking weapons is prohibited.

8. Any contestant caught in the act of stealing and/or causing damage to another contestants

property will be immediately disqualified and removed from the pageant location.

9. for the crowning ceremony: Gown of choice for Miss and Formal Wear for Mr.

10. Smoking will not be permitted in the dressing areas.

11. No food or drink will be permitted in the dressing areas.

12. Each contestant will be permitted to have one (1) helper in the dressing area at any giventime. One (1) Dresser will be admitted to the pageant at no charge. Dresser MUST have DresserBadge when entering the club. All helpers will be required to have an identification card.

13. Any contestant, dresser, dancers, talent performers, etc. who causes a disturbance of any kind

during a preliminary pageant or at Ohio National Pride Pageant will result in the disqualificationof the contestant and contestant will be banned from all Ohio National Pride Pageants in the

future. We expect all contestants and their affiliates to behave in an adult and professionalmanner.

14. Any Qualified contestant who does not compete at Ohio National Pride will not be permittedto be involved with the Ohio National Pride Pageant System in any capacity for 1 (one) year.

Any Preliminary titleholders who do not compete at Ohio National Pride will be required toreturn their crown and all prizes, including prize money, plaques, gifts, gift certificates, etc. tothe preliminary pageant promoter within 30 days of the Ohio National Pride Pageant in whichtitleholder was qualified to compete. Any preliminary titleholder, who does not return crownand/or prize money to the preliminary promoter, will be banned from the Ohio National PrideSystem indefinitely and legal action will be taken.

15. If a qualified contestant does not compete at Ohio National Pride and was not excused fromcompeting at Ohio National Pride Pageant by the state promoter, they will be required to returnthe $75.00 entry fee to their preliminary promoters for reimbursement of the state entry fee thatpromoter has already paid to reserve the contestants slot at Ohio National Pride Pageant. The

qualified contestant who does not compete at Ohio National Pride Pageant will have thirty (30)days to reimburse $75.00 to their preliminary promoter. Failure to reimburse the preliminarypromoter will result in the contestant being banned from the Ohio National Pride System untilthe entry is paid. Preliminary titleholders who do not compete at Ohio National Pride Pageantwill be required to return crown, all awards, and all prize money to the preliminary promoterwithin 30 days of the state pageant for which contestant did not compete.

16. Contestants must pre-purchase all dancer / dresser tickets at time of registration in the orderof participation. You may get a one day pass per each day or a full weekend pass if it is needed.

CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS AND SCORING

PRESENTATION

Your presentation attire should be in accordance with this years theme. Ohio National Pride

Pageant has required contestants to wear costuming appropriate to the theme that they choose forpresentation. This category WILL NOT BE A JUDGED CATEGORY and WILL NOT be part ofthe final scoring. However by not wearing appropriate required outfit will result in administrativepoint deductions.

TALENT

Talent is the highest scored category in the Ohio National Pride Pageant. Contestants will be judgedon their quality of lip sync, live vocals, or other entertainment.. ALL TALENT MUST BE TRACKNUMBER 1 ON A CD. You may change your talent for final night if you wish to do so.(TRACK NUMBER 2 ON YOUR TALENT CD MUST BE YOUR CHOSEN CROWNINGNUMBER)

You Must Have BACKUP CD Available

CREATIVE EVENING WEAR

Creative evening wear category will allow you to use your imagination to create an exciting andoriginal style for after-five attire. If a gown is worn, all expectations of fit and length apply. Creativeevening wear will consist of creative and unique design of the ensemble and/or creative and uniqueaccessories while, still presenting a vision of elegance. MAKE YOURSELF STAND OUT! Youmay change your creative evening wear for final night if you wish to do so.

ON-STAGE QUESTION AND ANSWER

You will be judged on speaking ability (or appropriate form of communication) and how you answerthe question posed to you.There will be no on-stage question on prelim nights. On-Stage question will be asked on Finalnight for the top qualifying contestants only.

INTERVIEW

There will be a personal interview for Ohio National Pride Pageants. You may come to interview asmale (or female for Miss Only). Your attire should be at least, business casual. You will be judged onpoise, appearance, personality, ability to answer the questions posed by the judges, and on yourprofessionalism during the interview. Dont be afraid to use humor during your interview. It just

might be your greatest asset, however this is still a business interview. You are applying for a job!!

CROWNINGGown of Choice for Miss and Formal Wear for Mr.The top ten contestants will be required to have crowning number available. Your crowning numbermust be track number 2 on your talent CD.

10 points- Smoking in the dressing room

10 points -Drinks in the dressing room

10 points -Too many people in the dressing room

10 points -Badgering or belittling any member of Ohio National Pride Pageant orassociates of the Ohio National Pride Pageant

15 points- No costume for presentation/Opening

25 points- Tardy for line up 5 points each for Presentation, Creative Evening Wear,Talent, Interview, and Crowning

25 points Late for Registration (even if one minute late); Late for any scheduledcontestant meeting during the pageant process, including Rehearsal for openingpresentation. This also included roll call before the beginning of each pageantnight.

** Excused tardiness to Registration will not result in deducted points.

Any contestant who will be late for registration with a valid reason mustdiscuss their tardiness with the Ohio National Pride Promoter PRIOR toregistration time.
