About the Programme:

Health and safety in the workplace are the number one concern of most businesses, yet

still deaths and injuries occur.Occupational Health and Safety management System

(OHSMS) is a framework that allows an organization to consistently identify and control

its health and safety risks, reduce the potential for incidents, help achieve compliance

with health and safety legislation and continually improve its performance. OHSAS

18001 was being used as the Standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management

System (OHSMS) the world over for certification, in the absence of any ISO Standard for the same.

ISO 45001 Standard on OHSMS has been published in March 2018. ISO 45001 sets the

minimum standard of practice to protect employees worldwide. The Standard specifies

requirements for an Occupational Health and Safety Management System, with guidance

for its use, to enable an organization to proactively improve its OH&S performance in

preventing injury and ill-health. With the publication of ISO 45001,certifications to

OHSAS 18001, will no longer be valid after three years from the date of publication of ISO 45001.

Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OH&SMS) at Chennai, New Delhi

and Mumbai to give a head start to organizations who wish to implement ISO 45001or migrate to ISO 45001 from OHSAS 18001.

About the speaker:

Mr Abhay Pathak, Lead Assessor, NABCB isalso Head, Sustainability at Tata Motors,

Pune and hence brings with him direct experience of implementing OHSMS. He was

member of the Indian group in BIS which participated in the development of ISO 45001

and has undergone training on ISO 45001 from Pacific Accreditation Cooperation

(PAC)- imparted by Mr. Leonardo OmodeoZorini who was an active member of the

ISO/PC 283 Committee for the ISO 45001 development. He has experience in

implementation of OHSMS as per OHSAS 18001& brings with him, over 23 years of industry experience.
