ABOUT THE INSTUTUTION (CGU)
C. V. Raman Global University, Odisha was established as per “Odisha Act 01 of 2020”. It was named as C.V. Raman College of Engineering (CVRCE) in the year 1997. Since its inception, it was wedded to quality and steadfastly remained committed to bringing about rapid transformations in the field of technical education by imparting high quality education and training through its well-equipped smart classrooms, world class labs, unbeatable Centres of Excellence and a rich library having connectivity with the leading libraries of the world. CGU, Odisha offers 18 Undergraduate, 17 Postgraduate, 11 Ph.D. and 01 Integrated MA with Ph.D. programmes. The curriculum of all the programmes focuses more on ‘learning by doing’ and therefore has embedded regular laboratory classes and the projects, as per the requirement.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSCIS
The Department Physics was established in 1997 with the introduction of Engineering Physics course in the UG level. Subsequently M.Sc. and Ph.D. courses were introduced respectively in the year 2016, 2018. The PG course includes elective papers in the fields of Fiber Optics & Optoelectronics, Plasma Physics and Material Science Technology. The Department is actively involved in R&D work in the fields of Fiber Optics and Optoelectronics, Materials Science, Plasma Physics, Nanotechnology, etc. The Department has published about 100 research papers in the fields of fiber and integrated optics, materials science, plasma physics. The department is associated with two sponsored projects from CSIR & DST. A MOBILE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY LABORATORY is running to the nearby rural high schools for the promotion of science education as a part of social outreach programmes.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME:
With the invention of laser, research in the field of optics was totally revolutionized giving birth of new fields. Photonics is one of these new fields of science and engineering including physical phenomena and technologies associated with generation, transmission, manipulation, detection and utilization of light. It integrates lasers, optics and electronics to develop applications in industries such as telecommunications, information technology, entertainment and displays, precision manufacturing, biology and medicine, environmental sensing, defence, aerospace etc. The programme aims at expanding various kinds of photonic materials and its applications such as photonic devices, sensors including nanoscaled waveguides/devices, fabrication aspects, 5G photonics communications and various challenges.
OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAMME:
The primary objective of this program is to provide a platform to get the basic concepts of recent advances in photonic materials and its developments in photonic technologies to the faculty members of engineering colleges and research community associated in various departments. This program can give an exposure to the participants about new fields such as plasmonics, high power laser applications and various computational methods in the field of Engineering. Finally, this program will provide a unique opportunity to identify and to discuss potential collaborations among young researchers, faculties, scientists, etc.
