Before I share a devotional thought with you, I wanted to remind you that this week is the Prayer Week for the Lottie Moon Christmas offer-ing. I sincerely want you to pray for our international missionaries and their families. I also want you to pray about giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. All proceeds will go to the International Mission Board to support thousands of missionaries around the world. Last year, nearly 1,000 missionaries returned home from the mission field due to budget shortfalls. These men and women have committed their lives to make disciples in diffi-cult countries and among difficult people groups. Please generously support our missionaries as they take the gospel to the ends of the earth. For most Americans, the Christmas season is anything but peaceful. We have decorations to hang, food to prepare, goodies to deliver, parties to attend, shopping to complete, presents to wrap, concerts to attend, and loved ones to entertain. Considering the hectic schedule and frantic pace of it all, it’s amazing that we approach the holiday season with any shred of excite-ment. Yet in the midst of all our chaos, we are supposed to keep the true meaning of Christmas on the fore front of our minds, which is that Jesus came to dwell among us. Isaiah 26:3 promises that God will keep us in perfect peace if we will trust in Him and keep our thoughts fixed on Him. That seems nearly impossible to do at this time of the year, but it is within this verse that we find the true definition of peace. Sadly, too many people define peace as the absence of chaos and turmoil, recognize such a state as unattainable, and dismiss the notion that people could actually have peace. However, peace is not the absence chaos and turmoil; rather, it is a posture of calm assurance in the midst of chaos and turmoil. Regardless of the circumstances we are facing, we can have a perfect peace if we trust in God and keep our thoughts fixed on Him. Trust-ing in Him means that we understand that God is always in control, surren-der to His will, and walk with confident expectations. Keeping our thoughts fixed on Him means that we seek his face through prayer, listen to His voice, and resolve to be obedient no matter what He calls us to do. As Christmas draws closer, my prayer is that you will not allow the stress and mayhem of this season to overwhelm you. I pray that you will trust in God, keep your mind fixed on Him, and walk in perfect peace. In Christ, Jason

THE BOONEVILLE BAPTIST

A Message from Carter’s Corner

This week in the life of our youth, we praise God for both Kaz Shumpert and Jocelyn Ball and their obe-dience to Christ’s example in baptism this past Sunday morning. We are grateful that God is moving in a mighty way, not only through our youth, but through our entire church. We ask that you pray for these students in the coming days as they begin their daily walk with Christ. December 21 we will have our annual Progressive Supper. Each year we split our youth up into 4 groups. Each group will go to a church member’s home for appetizers. After about 30 minutes, the

youth will then leave and will progress to the next house where the main course will be served. Then fi-nally, everyone will meet at our dessert house and we will have a time of devotion and “dirty Santa” gifts. This year we are adding a few different elements to Progressive Supper. The first element is that each group will dress up as characters from a Christmas movie of their choosing. For example, a group might want to dress up as characters from the movie “Grinch.” Our students will be in costume and will go house to house in these costumes. When our students finally reach the dessert house with all the other groups, they will then perform a scene from the movie they picked with everyone from their group. The incentive behind this is that everyone who dresses in costume and performs the scene from the movie will be entered into a drawing. The person whose name is drawn will get to go on our 2017 Youth Choir Mission Trip to Seattle, WA absolutely FREE! So, be reading our newsletter in the upcoming weeks with more details to come!
