The best gardens from an environmental standpoint originate from seeds, instead of plants. Whenyou begin a garden, it's most eco friendly to do so with seed. It is common for commercial plants tobe packaged in plastic that is not commonly recycled, and therefore, it is better to use seeds orpurchase plantings only from merchants who make use of organic packaging.

There are many natural substances that are effective for warding off unwanted visitors. Forming aborder around your vegetable garden with marigolds or onions are ideal for repelling slugs. If youplace wood ash around the base portion of a shrub seedling or tree, you will ward off insect pests.Doing these things can ensure that you do not need potentially harmful chemicals.

Avoid damage to new plantings by keeping the water on low to move the water slowlythrough the soaker. Allow it to water your plants for a couple of hours, so that you are free to doother things.
