Dr. Derek Sanders

grew up in West

bloomfield, Michigan

as the youngest of five

children. Dr. Sanders

received his Doctorate

in Dental Medicine

from the university of

Pennsylvania where he

graduated in the top of

his class. Following his

dental training, Dr. Sanders practiced as a restorative

dentist in Philadelphia, PA. He then completed a

specialty program in orthodontics and dentofacial

orthopedics at the university of Connecticut, where

he was the chief resident and earned a postdoctoral

Certificate in orthodontics and a Master of Dental

Science degree.

Dr. Sanders is board Certified by the American board

of orthodontists. He is among a very small group

of orthodontists in the united States to earn this

additional degree of recognized excellence and is

the youngest orthodontist in Miami to successfully

pass the clinical orthodontic board exam. Dr. Sanders

is a highly skilled clinician who is loved for his warm

personality and kind heart. He is a member of

multiple organizations and has lectured nationally and

internationally on various topics in orthodontics.

Dr. Sanders resides in Miami with his wife, Michele.

He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf

why Dr. Sanders’s interceptive program is so important

to your child’s dental health. While most children will

not need early treatment, it is recommended that all

children should see an orthodontist by age 7.
