Occupational Safety and Health implementation is one of the ways to provide a safe, healthy, free from accident working environment for workers. As we know, occupational accidents not only cause fatality, material loss and time loss, it also disturbs production process as a whole, affecting the company and the community. Therefore, intensive effort needs to be done to prevent OSH accidents. According to ILO convention No 187 and ILO recommendation No 197 about Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health, all related sectors should implement integrated OSH program coordinately in a sustainable manner.

The Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration Republic of Indonesia is proud of DK3N (National Safety and Health Council of Indonesia) as appointed host of APOSHO 28, in conjunction with OSH Expo 2013.

We hope OSH promotional goals to provide safe, healthy and zero accident working environment to increase national productivity can be achieved.

Occupational Safety and Health accidents in the world are still occurring at high numbers, according to ILO reports nearly 2.3 million every year, such creates family tragedy and economic loss significantly. It’s our responsibility to prevent accidents. At the DK3N (The National Safety and Health Council of Indonesia), we do our best to empower everyone’s awareness and to increase everyone’s knowledge about safety and health at workplace, outside the workplace, on the road, at home and anywhere.

The Occupational Safety and Health Expo 2013 and The 28th Asia Pacific Occupational Safety and Health Organization Conference is one of the efforts to achieve all purposes mentioned. The OSH Expo is an annual event that has been a melting pot for OSH professionals, a national trade fair for industrial, mining, manufacture, automotive industry, goods and services related to OSH. While the APOSHO conference is an annual event, gathering OSH professionals from all over the Asia Pacific region. It’s a great honor for DK3N / NSHCI to host all these international events.

We hope that combining the events would attain the expected achievement and objectives as well as becoming the gathering place for sharing, exchanging OSH best practice learning and becoming the source of OSH information.

Two decades ago back in 1993, the National Safety and Health Council of Indonesia (DK3N) had first hosted APOSHO conference in Jakarta. The occasion was extremely successful and memorable because DK3N had put in great effort in planning and organizing the APOSHO activities. In the history of APOSHO, DK3N has demonstrated a very positive and proactive approach in attending all APOSHO events and their contribution is highly commendable.

Special thanks must be given to DK3N, Dr. Waluyo and his team for hosting APOSHO 28 in Jakarta, Indonesia in October 2013. APOSHO 28 will be very comprehensive because it will concur with OSH EXPO 2013 and be integrated with Certification and Training. ITINERARY

Pick up at Hotel Lobby in the morning, participants will be guided through Jakarta Heritage sites called the Kota Tua area. The sites previously known as Benteng Batavia or Batavia Fortress. It witnessed the beginning of a long Dutch Colonial era through out Indonesian archipelago. We will first visit The National Museum. It is the Indonesian archaeological, historical, ethnological and geographical museum. Afterwards we will visit Sunda Kelapa pier, where you can see traditional Indonesian Phinisi wooden boat still in use.

Another exciting activity will be visiting Fatahillah Museum which was used as Stad Huis or the town hall in 17th century. Participants can then take an Oentel Bike ride skimming through the old city historical red bridge and the Syahbandar Lighthouse by the fish market. Lunch will be served at Marina Batavia, a prestigious restaurant by the bay.

Short visit to the Jalan Surabaya flea market shopping where you can find antiques at bargain price and transfer back to the hotel.

We are pleased to announce that the Asia Pacific Occupational Safety & Health Organization (APOSHO) will conduct the APOSHO-28 Conference, International Seminar and EXPO to be held at the Jakarta International Expo Indonesia on 8 - 12 October 2013, with theme of the event: “ENHANCING SAFETY CULTURE, STRIVING SUSTAINABILITY.”

The Asia-Pacific Occupational Safety and Health Organization (APOSHO) is an international body, having as members not-for-profit professional organizations devoted to the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases. The APOSHO membership comprises 39 recognized organizations from 21 countries / regions, including United Kingdom (IOSH), United States of America (AIHA; ASSE) and Australia (NSCA; IFAP)The APOSHO-28 Conference, International Seminar and EXPO provide an important forum for exchanging knowledge, experiences and ideas through interaction among professional organizational members, scientists, engineers, government officials, academics, and others. Contributions of multi-sector enterprises, including state owned companies, service providers, suppliers, universities, research institutes and related communities, will have a multiplier impact for a strong and sustainable Safety Culture.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The APOSHO-28 Organizing Committee would like to extend invitations for the submission abstracts and full papers, in alignment with the theme of the 28th APOSHO Conference, International Seminars and Expo.

Submissions of abstracts must be written in English. They must contain good-quality graphics and relevant references to support the text. Acceptance of abstracts would be selected on condition of maximum 300 words, covering objectives, methods, results and conclusions. Abstracts should not contain figures. Authors should indicate his/her preference in presenting the paper as presentation.

One or more abstracts, papers or posters could be submitted which should cover but not limited to the following topics:• Human Factors & Behavioral• OSH Leadership Management and Ownership• OSH Culture Sustainable development • OSH Transportation & Public Sector

ABSTRACT SUBMITTAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Abstracts will be judged on technical merit, originality and interest to the audience. It could cover to present theoretical solutions or application, experiences and case studies, also specifying requirements, challenges, opportunities and best practice learning. The official language is English therefore all abstracts and papers should be written in English.

Submittals have to be in both word .doc and .pdf format, mentioning: 1. Title of Paper2. Author(s) Name(s), Affiliation, Addresses, Phone number, Fax, E-mail contact3. Designation of one Author to present the paper (presenter's name)4. Indicate preference for (a) Oral, (b) Poster Presentation, (c) Either5. Indicate if this paper was previously presented or published; if so, when, where, and by whom?6. The abstract should encourage the committee to select your paper. It should point out ways that the reader can use

your conclusions. The abstract should: (a) state the scope and principle objectives, (b) methods utilized, (c) summarize the results, (d) state the principal conclusions, and (e) keywords.

Oral Papers. - Papers presented orally will be published in the Proceedings Volume. Authors of papers presented orally are expected to provide full papers which are typically 5,000 words or 15 pages of text, tables and figures (max). Materials used during the oral presentation will not be published unless they form part of the written paper.

Posters. - Authors of posters (only) may choose extended abstract or full papers format for publication in the Proceedings Volume.
