Current safety standard s addressing electric powetransmission and distribution are nearly 40 years old.If a new set of rules passes, it will specicallyaddress foot protection requirements for thoseworking with electrical power transmission, andalso include an update to aerial lift fall protection.

If proposed standards a re implemented they willincorporate personal fall protection systemsinto 29 CFR 1910.23, which covers bothwalking and working surfaces.New technologies are now available to helpprotect employees who work with laddersor other equipment at heights.

Crystalline Silica is dang erous substance often fouconstruction sites as it is found in every type of rockformation, it is used ceramics, glass and many othermaterials.

OSHA is proposing a reduction in the permissibleexposure limit to 8-hour time-weighted averageof 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air.

* Public hearings are still being held, a decision isexpected later in the year.
