SAINTS AND SPECIAL OBSERVANCES Sunday: Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Monday: St. Benedict Wednesday: St. Henry Thursday: St. Kateri Tekakwitha Friday: St. Bonaventure Saturday: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Blessed Virgin Mary

Dear Friends, • I want to publicly thank the anonymous parishioner who paid for our new beautiful stained glass window. The two saints that are depicted are two educators: St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits and St. Frances Cabrini, who found the first Catholic School in our country. If I said it once, I’ll say it again: the most important thing we do as a parish is to pass on the faith to the next generation. Thank you, anonymous parishioner, for the stained

glass window as well as for our two “educator saints.” Your gift to OLL will last for many years to come. • Another item I would like to share with you is that we now have a new emergency number to reach a priest (415) 301-0514. This number is for emergencies only! I also want to mention that if you have a loved one who is dying, please, please, please, don’t wait to call the priest as they are about to draw their last breath. Please call us as soon as possible so that the person can receive the Sacrament of the Sick. Now that we are down to 1 ½ priests, we might not always be available to go out immediately to anoint your loved one. Please call us as early as possible and I and Fr. Juan Manuel will be more than happy to go out and see you. Thanks! • Every Sunday after Mass, we have ladies going through the pews tiding up after you. I want to thank those ladies for wanting a clean environment for those people coming to the next Mass. Would you kindly please put your books back, take home your Bulletins, and clean up any mess you make? The ladies and I would be much appreciative. I promise not to throw your trash in the sanctuary again! • We have 24 hour adoration beginning with the 9am Mass on Friday, July 15th and ending before the 9am Mass the following day. Pope Francis suggested that all parishes do this sometime during this Jubilee Year of Mercy. Sign-up sheets are found by the entrances of the Church. We need more people to sign up dur-ing the late night and early morning hours. I hope and pray that as many of you can participate in this 24 hour adoration as possible. • I went to the Novato Fourth of July Parade. I was amazed by how many different languages I heard people speaking. I was thinking how happy our Founding Fathers (and Mothers) would be to see how our county continues to be a beacon of hope for the world. I know some of you will disagree with me, but Novato is changing and changing for the best! Have a good week! Fr. Brian

WILL YOU VISIT ONE HOUR WITH JESUS? Jesus showed His great love for us by His crucifixion on the cross to pay for our sins. Can we not give Jesus an hour of love and adoration in return? Our La-

dy of Loretto will have a 24 hour Eucharist Ado-ration on July 15 beginning after the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Friday and ending before the Saturday morning 9:00 a.m. Mass. We need parishioners to sign up for a one-hour commitment—especially during the evening and overnight hours. Please be generous with your time -through adoration we strengthen our personal relationship with God and give witness to our belief that God is truly dwelling with all of us. Sign up sheets will be at all entrances. Thank you.

NINE DAY PARISH NOVENA JULY 18-28 Join us for a 9-day Parish Novena to Mary for guid-ance for our 2016 Presidential Election. A novena is a traditional form of prayer either in pri-vate or public which takes place over nine days (the number of days which Mary and the Apostles spent in prayer between the Ascension and Pente-cost). FOR PRIVATE PARTICIPATION - spend time during the nine days in prayer by saying the following: Opening Prayer: COME HOLY SPIRIT, FILL THE HEARTS OF YOUR FAITHFUL AND ENKINDLE IN THEM THE FIRE OF YOUR LOVE. Follow this with the attached "An Election Prayer to Mary". FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: The novena prayers will be recited at the daily 9am Mass and at all the Sunday Masses (except the 12noon Spanish Mass).

GO AND DO LIKEWISE Miss Collins, the dean of students at Olympic High School, was past the point of scolding Matt, though she liked him very much. “Four detentions in two weeks are too many.” Still Matt wouldn’t tell. It was only after Miss Collins went on a morning neighborhood patrol that she found out the real reason for Matt’s tardiness. Thump, thump, thump, came the wheelchair down the stairs. It was Matt, steadying Shawnetta as he helped lower her down

the stairs and then push her to the corner bus stop. “She’s a girl in my parish youth group,” Matt explained to Miss Collins. There are many ways to describe Matt’s actions—a random act of kindness, making a difference one per-son at a time. Jesus would understand. When the lawyer correctly identified the good Samaritan as the one who had treated the injured man with compassion, Jesus said simply, “Go and do likewise” (Luke 10:37).

REVELATION In the Old Testament, the New Testament lies con-cealed; in the New Testament, the Old Testament lies revealed. —St. Augustine

P. Brian
