My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,

As a parish family consecrated to our Lord Jesus through our Blessed Mother Mary we look to follow her loving example in our own generous embrace of the Father’s invitation to share in His work of salvation. It is His mission that we live in Christ Jesus through those “Parish Pillars” that I have asked us to resolve this New Year to integrate more fully into our lives.

One of those “Pillars” is to support the work of the Church through ABCD, the Archbishop’s Charities and Development Drive. I want to commend and thank you for supporting the work of the Archbishop through ABCD and ask you to make a pledge again this year. I am sure that the Archbishop would greatly appreciate it if you could offer him some extra help this year.

“Extra help” might mean a larger pledge to ABCD this year than we made last year but I have an even better idea. It would help both the Archbishop and your brothers and sisters in Christ if you could explain to your mother, father, son, daughter, brother, sister, friend, ministry coworker, and fellow parishioner why it is that you support ABCD and help them to understand how much it matters to the Church and to each of them when they make a pledge as well.

To be willing to let others in on what we do and why we do it and to help someone understand and embrace life as a member of the Body of Christ is a Spiritual Work of Mercy and a blessing that will long outlive many of the presents we receive for Christmas. Just as praying a Holy Hour for the intentions of the parish family joins us as one with the Father and the Holy Spirit in Christ Jesus, so joining with fellow Christians in supporting ABCD and the work of the parish binds us not just to each other but to Jesus Himself. Jesus changes everything – for the better!

Let us help each other to take advantage of this opportunity to come to Christ as a parish family. Pledge envelopes are available at all the church entrances. Again, thank you for your support of ABCD. It makes a difference.

...Mensaje del Mons. Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,

Como familia parroquial consagrada a nuestro Señor Jesús a través de nuestra Santísima Madre María miramos a seguir su ejemplo de amor en nuestro propio abrazo generoso a la invitación del Padre a participar en su obra de salvación. Es Su misión la que vivimos en Cristo Jesús a través de los "pilares" de la parroquia los cuales nos he pedido decidir hacer este Año Nuevo integrándolos más plenamente a nuestras vidas.

Uno de esos "pilares" es apoyar el trabajo de la Iglesia a través de ABCD, Caridades y Desarrollos del Arzobispo. Les quiero felicitar y dar gracias por el apoyo a la labor del Arzobispo través de ABCD y les pido hacer el compromiso de nuevo este año. Estoy seguro de que el Arzobispo estará muy agradecido si le pudiera ofrecer un poco de ayuda adicional este año.

"Ayuda adicional" puede significar un compromiso con ABCD mayor este año que el año pasado, pero tengo una idea aún mejor. Sería de gran ayuda tanto para el Arzobispo como para sus hermanos y hermanas en Cristo si pudiera explicarle a su madre, padre, hijo, hija, hermano, hermana, amigo, compañero de trabajo del ministerio, y compañero feligrés porqué es que usted apoya ABCD y les ayude a entender lo mucho que importa a la Iglesia y a cada uno de ellos también cuando hacen un compromiso.

Estar dispuesto a dejar que otros sepan lo que hacemos y porqué lo hacemos y ayudar a alguien a entender y a abrazar la vida como miembro del Cuerpo de Cristo, es un Trabajo Espiritual de Misericordia y una bendición que siempre sobrepasará a muchos de los regalos que recibimos en Navidad. Así como rezando una Hora Santa por las intenciones de la familia parroquial nos une como uno con el Padre y el Espíritu Santo en Cristo Jesús, unirse con otros cristianos en el apoyo a ABCD y el trabajo de la parroquia nos une no sólo entre sí, sino a Jesús mismo. Jesús cambia todo - ¡para lo mejor!

Ayudémonos unos a otros a aprovechar esta oportunidad de venir a Cristo como una familia parroquial. Los sobres se encuentran disponibles en todas las entradas de la iglesia. Una vez más, gracias por su ayuda a ABCD. Hace una diferencia.

ISAIAH Course in English

The School of Evangelization (SOE) of Our Lady of

Lourdes is pleased to offer the ISAIAH Course, a wonder-

ful weekend retreat, in English. This course is for those

who have already completed the Philip Course. The ob-

jective of ISAIAH is for you to have a personal encounter with

the Word of God, through an introduction to the Bible.

We invite you to take a journey, on Friday, January 29th, 6:30 PM -10:15 PM, Saturday, January 30th, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM,

and Sunday, January 31st, 9:00 AM-4:30 PM, ending with the 5:00 PM mass at OLOL.

The course will take place at

Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School.

Catechist Certification

The Liturgy and Sacraments, part of the Archdiocese of Miami require-ments for Catechist Certification and Catholic School Teacher require-ments is being offered at Our Lady of Lourdes.

This course is open to Catechists, Catholic school teachers and anyone in the parish who wishes to deepen their knowledge of the Church's teach-ings on Liturgy and the Sacraments. It could be of special benefit to those already participating in liturgical ministry at Our Lady of Lourdes.

This 10 contact hour course will be in the Bishop Fernando Isern Hall from 9:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. on January 16, 23, and 30, 2016.

2016 Archbishop’s Charity and Development Drive (ABCD) Begins

As we begin the 2016 year, let us reflect on the many blessings in our lives. When we truly believe that all we have is a gift from God, then we must be willing to give up some things so that we can share our blessings as God intended. Living a stewardship lifestyle means not only being responsible for our own life, but the lives of others as well.

Jesus teaches us that we are called to serve one another. Sacri-fice is not a word that many people like to hear. We think it means that we must give up something that we want. How-ever, the literal meaning of sacrifice is “to make holy,” from the words of “sacer” meaning sacred and “facere” meaning to make. In other words, we make our lives holy by sharing our gifts in the service of God.

Soon we will be asking you to make a contribution to this year’s ABCD, please take this time to prayerfully consider what sacrificial gift you will be able to place at God’s service.

If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all. Mark 9:35.

Comienza la Campaña de Caridades y Desarrollo del Arzobispo (ABCD) 2016

Al comenzar el año 2016, reflexionemos sobre las muchas bendiciones que tenemos en nuestras vidas. Cuando realmente creemos que todo lo que tenemos es un regalo de Dios, entonces debemos estar dispuestos a renunciar a algunas cosas para poder compartir nuestras bendiciones como Dios manda. Vivir la vida según el estilo de la mayordomía significa no sólo ser responsables de nuestra propia vida, sino de las vidas de los demás.

Jesús nos enseña que estamos llamados a servirnos los unos a los otros. “Sacrificio” no es una palabra que a mucha gente le gusta oír. Creemos que esto significa que debemos renunciar a algo que queremos. Sin embargo, el significado literal de sacrificio es “santificar”, hacer que algo sea santo, y proviene de las palabras latinas sacer, que significa sagrado, y facere, que significa hacer. En otras palabras, hacemos que nuestra vida sea santa compartiendo nuestros dones al servicio de Dios.

Pronto les pediremos que hagan una contribución al ABCD de este año; por favor, dedique este tiempo a considerar en oración qué donativo sacrificial será usted capaz de poner al servicio de Dios.
