2020 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal
The Archbishop’s Annual Appeal provides help to
those in need! Together, we can and do make a
profound difference in the lives of many
individuals and families, in a way that exceeds
anything we could hope to achieve on our own.
Organizations in our town have received funding
from the Appeal’s Vicariate Outreach Program
which serves our local neighbors.

How do you go to Mass virtually?
During this time away from the walls of our church, consider making a quiet space where you can reflect, mediate, and attend Mass with your families.
• Treat Mass on TV as if you were coming to Mass at church. Dress up or as you would when you attend Mass.
• Place yourself in the presence of God. Don’t do other tasks while you are watching like chores or exercise.
• See yourself in your usual pew. See the people you usually sit around you.
• Do the responses and gestures as you can-sit, stand and kneel.
• Follow the readings by listening or read them.
• Home church is holy when (one or) two or more gather in my name there I am among you!
• Make a spiritual communion since you are not able to sacramentally or physically receive Jesus in the Eucharist. Say a spiritual communion prayer as it is said by the priest or say one yourself:
“Faithful and loving God, we hunger for the nourishment of your own life in the Holy Eucharist. We believe that it is an essential component of our growing as a disciple of Jesus. In this time of great upheaval, we believe that we need that life even more so. Nourish us as we have shared our prayer together in memory of Jesus and shared his real life in your Holy Word of the Sacred Scripture. Nourish us, grow in us, draw us closer to you and to each other. We pray in the name of Jesus the Lord.”

The Hartford Bishops’ Foundation
Jesus said to his disciples: “ Do not let your hearts
be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith
also in me.”
These words from today’s Gospel speak of our
faith. How appropriate for us to reflect on them
at this time!
In recent months, we have learned to celebrate
our faith in new ways. Through our parish
website and social media, we hope that has
helped to bring you strength and consolation
during this time.
If you are able to sustain your support for the
parish, we are deeply grateful. You may sign up
for online giving or take a donation to the rectory.
The Hartford Bishops’ Foundation is helping all
parishes in the Archdiocese through a “Support
My Parish” campaign. The effort provides an
additional opportunity for generous by welcoming
special gifts in the coming 90 days. These
donations can be restricted to the parish, and
100% of the proceeds will go directly to our
parish. For more information, or to give, please

Food Pantry Report
We are experiencing something we all could never have imagined. We can’t worship our Lord during
Mass as a Parish. Many people have lost their lives, others are sick, people are out of work, and many
had to choose between paying bills or putting food on their table.
Because of these difficult times, and the fact that other pantries and soup kitchens have closed, there has
been an increase in the number of requests for help. Not only are more people in need but they are
asking for items that we have not supplied before.
Households are requesting perishable goods, toiletries and paper products as well as the things that we
have been giving out.
So again, we are making a plea to our very generous parishioners. We know that many of you who are
reading this, may be experiencing problems yourself, but our request is for your help within your means.
Financial donations are always fantastic, in addition this long list of items is needed and greatly
appreciated:
The Usual Items:
Pasta, Noodles, Macaroni & Cheese, Pasta Helpers, Sauce, Canned Vegetables of All Kinds, Canned Beans

Thank you to everyone who has
continued to help support us
during this uncertain time. We
are truly blessed for you!!
Our Lady Queen of Angels has set up an Emergency Fund. The purpose of the Emergency Fund is to help parishioners and the community in this special time of need and to help replenish the Food Pantry. If you are inclined to make a special donation to Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish Emergency Fund you could do so either by mailing a check to the parish office in a parishioner envelope (coming soon) or you can contribute through our Parish Giving program. To access our Parish Giving program, go to the homepage of our website (www.olqoa.org) and click on the link there. Once on the Parish Giving website, you can contribute by creating an account or clicking "Pay Now". Either way you choose, there is an option under "Parish Collections" to contribute to the Emergency Fund. Thank you for your continued support of Our lady Queen of Angels Parish!

Deacon Don is considering leading an on-line Bible Study class on ZOOM centered on Adam Hamilton’s book: “Moses: In the Footsteps of the Reluctant Prophet.” In this time of hardship and struggle, we seem to be wandering through a desert, desperately hoping to arrive at better days. With his deep faith in God, Moses led God’s people through the wilderness and brought them to the Promised Land. If you are interested in joining a 6-week on-line class, please email [email protected] and sign up. There will be NO registration cost – but he will ask you to purchase the book, yourself. If there is enough interest, a date will be set to start and you will be given info about the book.
