The Light is on for You during the YEAR OF FAITH

Pope Benedict XVI recently announced The Year of Faith which is well under way. It seeks to enrich and rein-

vigorate Catholics and draw people back to the faith. Through the Year of Faith iterative we are given the

wonderful opportunity to enter into a closer relationship with Christ through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

On all of the Wednesdays of Lent from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. our parish along with all the parishes and chapels of

the Archdiocese of Newark will be open for individual confession. The Archdiocese has set up a website,

www.YearofFaithArchNewark.org/reconciliation.htm to help you prepare. It has a video on the Sacrament of

Reconciliation, sheets on how to make a good confession, answers to frequently asked questions and more.

Please make plans to come on Lenten Wednesdays and spread the word of this special outreach of mercy to

    those you know.

    STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIO: SPEDIG TIME

Stewardship of time is one of the three interlinked dimensions of our call to stewardship. Just as with our fi-nancial resources, we talk about spending time, saving time, and wasting time. But how well do we steward

our time, or use it in a way that reflects our gratitude to God for every hour of every day?

According to the latest government survey, the average American spends about 5 hours of spare time eachday in these activities: 2.8 hours watching TV, 38 minutes socializing and communicating, 20 minutes reading

20 minutes using the computer for fun, 17 minutes participating in sports, exercise, active recreation, 16 min-

utes relaxing and thinking, 20 minutes on other activities (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics)

How do you use your leisure time? Where do your priorities lie? How much time do you give back to Godin

prayer, study, volunteering in the parish?

Teach us to count our days aright, that we may gain wisdom of heart. (Psalm 90:12)

    Archbishops Annual Appeal

Research has shown that the time between the ages of 15to 25 is considered the "critical decade," when young peo-ple make decisions about who they are and what they be-lieve in. This is the time when the Catholic foundationsthat parents, families and parishes have instilled in their

children are critiqued and challenged, often in ways thatyoung men and women do not expect.

The Office of Campus Ministry for the Archdiocese ofNewark provides college students at secular campuses theopportunity to grow deeper in their Catholic Faith throughthe Sacraments of the Church, especially Sunday Mass andConfession, as well as with community service and fellow-

    ship with other young Catholics.

    The Archdiocese of Newark provides Campus Ministryprograms on the campuses of Essex County College; Far-leigh Dickinson University - Teaneck; Kean University;

Montclair State University, Jersey City University; NewJersey Institute of Technology (NJIT); Ramapo College;Rutgers University - Newark, Stevens Institute of Technol-ogy; and University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jer-

    sey (UMDNJ).

Thank you for your support of the Archbishops AnnualAppeal, which makes the Office of Campus Ministry a re-

    ality!
