Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Confirmation Sponsor Selection Information

Confirmation Sponsors embody the responsibility shared by the entire Christian community to nurture the faith and to share in religious development. Carefully choose a Confirmation sponsor who is a good example of Christian living.

Being a Confirmation sponsor is not just an honor given to a relative or good friend. To be a sponsor means having a real appreciation of the Catholic Church’s faith, a practice of the same, and a sense of responsibility toward the one to be confirmed. Qualification of Confirmation Sponsors To be admitted to the role of Confirmation sponsor, a person must:

Be designated by the one to be confirmed.

Have completed their sixteenth year.

Be a Catholic who has been confirmed and leads a life in harmony with the faith and the role to be undertaken (going to Mass every Sunday).

If married, must be married by a priest or deacon. Those who are cohabitating (living together without marriage) are ineligible. If divorced, cannot be remarried without a declaration of nullity and married in a church by a priest or deacon.

Must not be the father or the mother, biological or adoptive, of the one to be confirmed.
