Pope St John XX111: Perusers of u-tube might be interested in two pro-grammes about Pope John. Type in ' I would be called John' and it should bring up a great monologue by Charles Durning (famous American char-acter actor) acting as Pope John and telling his life story. Also there is a two part full length film called ' The good Pope' where he is played by Bob Hoskins (!). With some reservations this is quite a good film about his life. Rita Munns is taking part in a sponsored one mile swim, " Swim Serpentine" on 16th September in aid of St. Nicholas Hospice Care. There is a sponsor form at the back of the Church if you wish to sponsor Rita. TWO Youth Groups! We are planning, from early September, to have a weekly Youth Group for post-First Communion children (years 4 to 9) and a fortnightly group for post Confirmation (year 10 and up.) The first meeting for the younger group will be on Tuesday the 12th Septem-ber at 5.45 to 7.00 and the older group will start on 26th September from 7.30pm to 9.00, both at the parish centre. The groups will be co-ordinated by Clare Spiller but she is also looking for parent helpers to be part of the set-up—she can be contacted on [email protected]
Congratulations to Daphne Bristow who recently celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends. Many blessings and best wishes to Daphne on this great milestone.!
