EXT. SEMI LIT STREET-- NIGHT

A worn, weary prostitute hails for a taxi. A few vehicleswhiz past before one finally stops. (The prostitutes faceis never fully revealed)

NARRATIONWhen work had failed, desolationwould follow.For lack of food and shelter, shefell so low .

The prostitute opens the door and boards the taxi.

TAXI DRIVERWhere to, Miss?

PROSTITUTE400 Orchard Road...

She takes out her makeup bag and opens it. Scene ends, cutsto classroom.

INT. CLASSROOM-- DAY

A young girl (Sally) is seated in a classroom. The teacherwrites the words " My Fathers occupation" onto the whiteboard.

TEACHERClass, who would like to go first?

A few students beside Sally raise their handsenthusiastically. Sally looks apprehensive, trying to avoidbeing selected by her teacher.

TEACHERAndrew, would you like to go first?

The boy beside her (Andrew) rises from his desk and makeshis way to the front of the class. Andrew takes out astethoscope and a white suit, and begins excitedlyexplaining what his father does. Sally looks down and peersinto her bag, a wig and a photograph is partially revealed.

INT. TAXI-- NIGHT

The prostitute peers into the streets through the taxiwindow. A shot of the taxi driver adjusting his rear viewmirror to take a closer look at the prostitute.

NARRATIONThat painted creature of themidnight street.Perchance that other, with theshoeless feet.

The taxi driver receives a phone call from his friend. Hebegins chattering through a wireless handset.

TAXI DRIVER(in hokkien)

oh.... business is slow today.(Pause) Oh, no lah. Im at orchardtowers now. (pause) Findprostitute? your head ah! you payfor me lah!

Inaudible chattering of the taxi driver is heard. Theprostitute takes out a pocket mirror and applies her makeup.Starting with her eyes, she draws her eye-line and appliesher mascara. She proceeds to apply her lipstick.The scene cuts and the taxi reaches his destination atOrchard towards.

PROSTITUTEJust stop at the entrance.

The taxi driver stops the meter and turns on the light inhis car. She pays her fare and gets off the taxi.

EXT. OUTSIDE ORCHARD TOWERS-- NIGHT

The prostitute is seen speaking to various men who tryengage her services from their vehicles. While solicitingfor business, she is approached by a shoddy looking man.

She banters cheekily with the man, touching his chest toseduce him. She successfully solicits his business and theyleave the place together. He puts his arm around hershoulder and leads her to his vehicle.


All the students around Sally have presented their show andtell pieces. The camera focuses on her left a classmateboasting proudly a photo of his father in army uniform,shaking hands with an important minister. She looks ahead atanother student behind her who is holding a Lawyers wig,ready to go up and give her presentation. She looksworriedly at the wig in her bag again, this time closing thebag to conceal the contents from her classmates.

INT. VAN-- NIGHT

The prostitute is already with the man in the van. He placeshis hands on her laps and gently strokes it.

MAN

(hokkien)What are you waiting for? (pause)Im not paying you to watch memasturbate....

He smiles at her. She bends over slowly and unfasten hisbelt, then proceeds to undo his zip. He moans pleasurablyand puts his hand onto her head as she goes down on him.

MANnow, thats more like it...

He moans are euphorically layered by the sounds of thefellatio. Sound dies and Narration takes over.

NARRATIONWas Natures victim, too carelesstoknow. Thatall live buds are not allowed toblow. Toostarved and passion-blind to bediscreet.

The fellatio continues till the end of the narration. Scenefades.

EXT. OUTSIDE CARPARK-- NIGHT

The prostitute smokes a cigarette outside the car-park. Shereceives a call on her phone.

MAN ON PHONE(in Mandarin)

What are your charges?

PROSTITUTE(in mandarin)

One hour $120, two hours for $200.

She carries on with the conversation without sound. Thescene fades.

The previous student(lawyer) walks back, looking happy tohave presented. The teacher checks her name list and checksout the last name, leaving only Sally left.

TEACHER

Sally... Youre next. Would youlike to come up to share with theclass about your father?

Sally looks down and clutches at her wig, unwilling to leaveher seat, with tears welling up in her eyes. The classstarts to chatter restlessly.

TEACHERSally, the class is waiting foryou.

Sally has a flashback. (Bright light flare)

EXT. SCHOOL PLAY YARD-- DAY

Sally is playing "Catch" with another classmate in the yard.A rich looking woman looks displeased after spotting herdaughter playing with Sally. She walks angrily towards Sallyand her daughter and violently breaks her daughter fromholding hands with Sally.

NARRATIONAnd their accuser? She within thefold.That walks in light, bejeweled andlaced.Who in cold blood, and not for loveor need.Sold the white flower of womanhoodforgold. Thewedded harlot, rich andundisgraced. Theviler prostitute in mind and deed.

The rich woman takes a bottle of liquid (disinfectant) and

begins furiously cleaning her daughters hands.RICH WOMAN

What did I tell you about playingwith her. You know shes dirty,dont you?

Sally looks on despondently as the rich woman walks awaywith her daughter, visibly chiding her as they walk.

NARRATIONThe mistakes she made, she vowednot torepeat. Yet sheknows no other way, only one soexplicit.

INT. HOME-- NIGHT

The prostitute enters her Sallys room and sees hersleeping. She tucks Sally in, turns off her bed-lamp andwalks towards her side of the bed. Turning away, she beginssobbing. She takes out her wig and her full face is finallyrevealed. The prostitute is in fact a transvestite. Sally iswaken by his cries, slowly makes her way across the bed tohug him.

SALLYDaddy, please dont cry...

The prostitute/transvestite then looks at his daughter,holds her tight.

PROSTITUTESally. Im so sorry...

Music begins playing softly.


in the classroom, Sally is in front of the class. With theprostitutes wig in hand. Sally finally looks up after beingencouraged by her teacher.

SALLYMy father is different, Im sureyoull agree. But hell always be afather to me.

Sally holds the wig in her chest. The camera starts to moveout showing the occupations and pictures of all the otherfathers on the board.

NARRATIONBefore you break her spirit andchastise her deed.Bear in mind the mouth, the outcasthas to feed.

Sally takes the photo and looks at it lovingly. The camerapans to a closeup of the photo. With Sally holding the handsof her transsexual father.
