OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIP LIST The Georgetown University Law Center Financial Aid Office has provided this list of outside scholarships to interested applicants every year since 1979. Each fall the list is reviewed and inquiry letters are sent to any new sources for which our students might qualify. Scholarships and loans offered by organizations are generally unregulated, except within the broad definition of being tax exempt; they start up and fold at will, sometimes in a single season. This year’s revised list contains only a few new entries, for the simple reason that we were unable to uncover many additional sources for our students. We strongly recommend contacting other organizations that might fit your personal background and goals. Your own inquiry into funds that are available to applicants with your particular ethnic, religious, educational, or geographic background may yield better results than our broad-based approach. Contact your local bar association, religious societies, fraternal organizations, business, and civic associations to inquire about scholarship possibilities. It is possible that these organizations offer assistance to people from your locale, but they do not advertise nationally because of the size of the fund or other restrictions. Other scholarships can be located through the Internet search engines listed below. We highly recommend using these in addition to this list. The information in this list is based upon the most current data available at the time of printing. Be advised that these awards may be increased, decreased, and eliminated without notice. Application deadlines may change unexpectedly as well. If you find any information to be inaccurate, please notify the Financial Aid office immediately so we can update the list. Many people will be competing for limited funding and many applications require recommendations and transcripts. Do not wait until the last minute to apply and be sure your applications are complete to improve your chances. If you uncover any new scholarships, grants, or other helpful information during this process that could assist us to help other students, we would appreciate hearing from you. Good luck. Scholarship Searches Available on the Web: Individuals can enter a profile on-line with several scholarship searches. The scholarship searches will comb a database and locate any scholarship that will fit the profile. The services provide the student with a list of possibilities and some services will update the student when a new scholarship is added that fits the profile. We advise using the free searches rather than our listing since they are more current and may contain resources we have not encountered. There are FREE as well as fee-charged scholarship searches. If you do decide to utilize a scholarship search service that charges a fee, please take a look at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) website and the Financial Aid Information Page, sponsored by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), BEFORE paying any money. These web sites contain valuable information about how to evaluate a scholarship search service, and the warning signs of a scam.

OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIP LIST

The Georgetown University Law Center Financial Aid Office has provided this list of outside scholarships to interested applicants every year since 1979.

Your own inquiry into funds that are available to applicants with your particular ethnic, religious,

educational, or geographic background may yield better results than our broad-based approach.

Be

advised that these awards may be increased, decreased, and eliminated without notice. Good luck. Scholarship Searches Available on the Web:

Individuals can enter a profile on-line with several scholarship searches.

If you do decide to utilize a

scholarship search service that charges a fee, please take a look at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) website and the Financial Aid Information Page, sponsored by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), BEFORE paying any money. These web sites contain valuable information about how to evaluate a scholarship search service, and the warning signs of a scam.
