Who we are
OxBridge Tutorial College has been carefully developed by our core team at s·a·e·s to provide the necessary resources and expertise for students facing the rigorous challenges of the International Baccalaureate programme and other international exams with high standards.
We also cater for students who are
preparing for other international quali-
fications including IELTS, SAT prepara-
tion, the Cambridge Cerificate, TOEFL,
IGCSEs, GCSEs and A-Level.
Founded in 1973, s·a·e·s has successful-
ly prepared students for the Abitur in
Germany for over 40 years. A leading
expert in this field of educational train-
ing, s·a·e·s has established an unrivalled
reputation for its emphasis on academ-
ic excellence, as well as for its in-depth
knowledge of the requirements of the
German system. Most importantly, s·a·e·s
is renowned for its investment in the
learning potential of each individual.
In 2002, s·a·e·s turned its attention to
the needs of pupils confronted with
the challenges of the IB programme.
This followed the growing recogni-
tion worldwide of the IB as a seal of
academic excellence, but was also a
direct response to increasing demand
from our existing clientele. Adapting
and enhancing more than 40 years
of experience, the core team set up
OxBridge Tutorial College, offering IB
programmes that are at the cutting
edge of educational praxis. These
programmes are designed to cater to
the individual, enabling each and every
student to develop as a human being,
while never losing sight of the need to
achieve academic excellence.
Our OxBridge Tutorial College has, as
its underlying principle, the belief that
learning should be a holistic process.
Our primary aim is to support and
empower students to become critical
thinkers and open-minded inquirers
who are capable of applying their
learning in a sustained and practical
way throughout their adult lives. We
have therefore developed a range of
masterclasses delivered by subject
experts to give our learners the op-
portunity to explore topics of interest
beyond the parameters of the school
syllabus. Students graduating from
an IB programme will have acquired
the necessary knowledge and skills to
make a difference in the world.
Learners are required to develop a
completely different skill set to most
traditional matriculation exams, and
this is where we can provide assistance
outside the confines of traditional edu-
cational systems.
From the outset, we have upheld this
principle by limiting our intake at Ox-
Bridge Tutorial College to no more than
15 students at any one time. All of our
courses are a combination of person-
alised one-to-one tutorials (14 out of
30 lessons a week) and small group les-
sons (16 out of 30 lessons). These les-
sons are based on the model of intense
participatory learning, which is unique
to the Universities of Oxford and Cam-
bridge. This means that each class has
a maximum of 3 students. Our small
group sizes enable us to really get to
know each participant individually, on
both an academic and a personal level.
As a result, progress can be monitored
and enhanced both inside and outside
the classroom.
The three IB programmes that we offer
are specifically designed to meet the
needs of participants at various stages
of their IB journey. Whether you are
about to embark on the programme
and want to be a step ahead of the
game, are in the middle of your pro-
gramme and require help with your
extended essay, or are at the critical
point before final exams, we can help.
Our aim is to not only consolidate but
also to extend the knowledge and skills
that individuals are required to develop
throughout the duration of the IB pro-
gramme. In addition to this we have
introduced a series of unique master-
classes to enrich the academic experi-
ence of our students and encourage a
lifelong enthusiasm for learning. While
never losing sight of the importance
of achieving the best possible grades,
our course developers have gone to
great lengths to tap into the academic,
cultural and intellectual environments
of Oxford and Cambridge.
Left: Individual timetables and personal tutoring are at the heart of our OxBridge College.
Right: The academic environment of St. Hilda’s College provides an ideal setting.
We know what we are, but know not what we may be.William Shakespeare
What we do
The continuing success of s·a·e·s is founded on our belief that a truly effective learning experience can only occur if the process takes the needs of the individual into account.
Page 10 Page 11
Our belief that education means
far more than merely accumulating
know ledge is reflected in the goals
that we set our tutors and supervisory
staff prior to their interaction with our
participants. These include establishing
a relationship based on trust, in which
it is acceptable to make mistakes and
learn from them, as well as encour-
aging curiosity by asking students to
think beyond the textbook. Our pri-
mary aim is to foster a sense of joy in
the process of learning itself, and we
encourage students to continue to
educate themselves outside lessons by
embracing the wealth of cultural, social
and intellectual opportunities afforded
by the unique heritage of our locations.
The learning experience we offer at
OxBridge Tutorial College is intended
to send each student away feeling that
they have enhanced their knowledge
and skill set in their chosen subjects.
Moreover, we aim for our students to
complete their courses feeling that they
have fully engaged in a process, which
has broadened their horizons and will
enrich their future learning, maximise
their individual growth, and inspire
their future career prospects.

Our philosophy
The individual learning experience is at the very heart of everything we do. After successfully identifying the learner’s current level and determining where they ultimately need to get to, we develop a personalised roadmap to optimise each student’s journey through education and beyond.
We cater for the inevitable overlap
in our students’ educational needs
by grouping them according to their
academic ability. Moreover, our unique
success rate stems from the high pro-
portion of private lessons that we are
able to offer. This enables us to indi-
vidualise learning concepts and adapt
both the content and the approach
of our courses to the needs of each
participant.
Our IB learning approach
Our holistic, empowering and academic approach places individual tutorials and small group seminars at the centre of the learning experience.
We believe that in addition to the
greater focus on enhancing skills within
the classroom environment, master-
classes with experts are key to fostering
intellectual curiosity and originality of
thought – qualities that are highly desir-
able at prestigious institutions such as
Oxford and Cambridge. What makes our
approach most effective is the broader
emphasis on personal development and
individualised learning.
The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.Sydney J. Harris

Pre-IB
Mid-IB
IB programmesThe IB Diploma is no easy undertaking. Thanks to our teachers’ combined experience, students can face the challenges posed by this demanding programme with confidence and skill.
To satisfy the needs of our students
at various stages of the IB, we have
designed three separate study pro-
grammes. Each course focuses on de-
veloping the potential of each student
through the expertise of our core team:
1. Pre-IB
2. Mid-IB
Mid-IB Language
Mid-IB Science
3. IB Revision
All other international exams such as
IELTS, SAT preparation, Cambridge
Cerificate, TOEFL, IGCSEs, GCSEs,
and A-Level can be booked as private
courses.*
Pre-IB
The Pre-IB course provides students with extensive preparation for the demands of the IB.
Our programme has been carefully
designed to familiarise students with
the demands of the IB, giving them the
advantage of commencing their studies
ahead of the curriculum under the
guidance of experts.
The course provides students with a
detailed overview of the challenges
that lie ahead, with advice from subject
specialists on how to tackle each com-
ponent of the IB.
The programme consists of 16 group
lessons (maximum three students per
class) and 14 private lessons (one-to-
one) spread over four weekdays.
Group lessons are designed to help
students with the compulsory aspects
of the IB, and students will be asked
to consider and discuss the questions
raised by the Theory of Knowledge
module, and develop their own ideas
in preparation for the extended essay.
Morning lessons will focus on English,
with additional private lessons for cho-
sen subject areas and taster sessions
for those who are undecided on their
individual subject options.
Above left: One-to-One tutoring and individual feedback give students the possibility to work on their personal goals for the next school year.
Above right: International exams and school levels vary according to country and grade.
Below right: A good learning development does not build merely on written and oral work.

Time management, strategic thinking and in-depth knowledge of the subject will ultimately be decisive in final exam results.
Teaching methods and content are based on the Oxford University concept.
IB Revision
The IB Revision course is designed to prepare students for their final examination.
The study programme comprises 16 group lessons with
maximum three students per class and 14 private (one-to-
one) lessons spread over four weekdays with Wednesdays
reserved for mock exams. The focus is on exam technique,
time management and continuous practice with support
available for all individual requirements.
Morning lessons will focus on consolidating existing knowl-
edge, structuring exam answers and improving on any
remaining areas of weakness. Students can concentrate even
more intensively on their chosen subjects in private lessons.
a) Mid-IB Language
The IB Language study programme is designed for students who are studying for the IB Diploma with English taught as the main language.
The study programme focuses on developing English lan-
guage skills, while at the same time devoting time to the stu-
dent’s additional subject choices. The programme consists
of 16 group lessons (maximum three students per class) and
14 private lessons (one-to-one) spread over four weekdays.
Wednesdays are reserved for mock exams.
The emphasis in the morning lessons is on developing
confidence in text analysis, essay and commentary writing
and practising exam techniques. The lessons highlight areas
where students need more support and help them to de-
velop new skills. In afternoon private lessons, students work
on specific subjects of their choice at higher or standard
level, as required. In these lessons the focus is on consolidat-
ing the student’s knowledge in the subjects and on moving
up to the next level of expertise in their chosen subject.
b) Mid-IB Science
The IB Science study programme is designed to support students who want to concentrate on the demands of the IB Diploma specifically in relation to the sciences and mathematics.
This programme is suitable for students who need to consoli-
date or improve their performance in these subjects.
This pro gramme also comprises 16 group lessons (maximum
three stu dents per class) and 14 private lessons (one-to-one)
spread over four weekdays with Wednesdays reserved for
mock exams.
In the group lessons we offer Biology, Chemistry, Physics
and Maths at both higher and standard level. Students can
choose the subjects they wish to work on in the private
lessons. These lessons can also be in non-science-related
subjects.
Mid-IB
Mid-IB is divided into two courses, one of which is language-based and the other science-based.
Page 18 Page 19
MasterclassesMasterclasses are designed and delivered by subject experts to give students the opportunity to explore topics of interest beyond what is usually covered in the school syllabus.
Our complementary academic programme of challenging and thought-provoking masterclasses, cultural events, and personal skills development days are an integral part of our course concept.
We consider masterclasses to be an essential part of our efforts to consolidate and enrich our students’ learning experience.
