WELCOME BACK KNIGHTS!We could not be more excited for the '16-'17 school year. The staff moral and anticipation to show off the hard work and collaboration over the summer couldn't be higher. We have made some improvements to the physical layout of the school and improved our technology system. We are so proud of these updates and we know our students will appreciate these changes as well.
As always, we will go above and beyond to ensure the transition from summer to the start of the school year is smooth and your students? needs are meet. We believe in our community, find pride in our work and are confident that in providing a supportive and solid academic foundation your student will succeed. We take pride in knowing all of our students on an individual level and will take the time to meet with families, take calls and answer any questions or concerns that may arise.

Alexis Goffe joined the Paladin team in 2016. He came to Minnesota from Jamaica in 2002, of his own free will (despite the weather), to attend college. He graduated from Macalester College with a B.A in Psychology and received his Masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas. Alexis brings over 10 years of experience working with youth and families in various educational settings. He also has a wealth of experience in circles and restorative practices. As Dean he strives to
strengthen community where students, parents and staff feel respected, safe and part of the Paladin Community.

We will discuss how we service students on individualized education programs (IEPs), how we promote inclusion, timelines, and what to expect for communication from your child's team (i.e. IEP manager, due process facilitator, special education director, teachers, and administration).

Paladin has a new College and Career Center! Carley and Sarah are available to help students with their plans during high school and after graduation.
Come to the "CCC" to talk to a counselor about:
- College visits, Job tours, Job shadowing opportunities, College Fairs
- PSEO, STEP classes, forklift training, CNA classes, etc.- Your strengths, weaknesses, interests, and personality which
can help you identify possible careers that will be a good fit- Career and Technical Education online courses- Applying to colleges, apprenticeship programs or trade schools- Completing the FAFSA- Any questions you might have as you plan your future schooling
and career
Paladin has updated its graduation requirements to align with the recommendations of the Minnesota Department of Education. We now require 22 credits to graduate, instead of the 28 previously required. The changes include:
No technology requirement 5.25 electives instead of 1110 College and Career requirements instead of 7. These include: resume, job application, testing (personality, interest, strengths and ACT or Accuplacer), goals paper, FAFSA, one application for post-secondary training, and an experiential learning opportunity.
We are confident that these changes will benefit our students during their high school experience and prepare them for college and careers after graduation.
The students started and maintained an Aquaponics System this past spring. Throughout the semester, they traveled to many parks to collect water samples and identified plants. They also participated in hands on experiments including dissections, plant growing, pollution and conservation.
We also toured the University of MN Aquaponics department, such as the greenhouses. We met with professors and students to discuss our system and learn about theirs.
