    Our story

The Paldorje Education Fund provides much needed head-start scholarships

to underprivileged children. In Nepal, many children grow up in remote

mountain villages, and are deprived of basic education.

The Paldorje Education Fund’s mission is to help the next generation find

their way to a brighter future. For every garment we sell, a small donation is

made to this fund to provide full education scholarships to children. By doing

this, we honor the dreams of our elders to make a better world.

We say “tcho-cchey” - thank you for purchasing our products and donating

to the Paldorje Education Fund. When we see the smiles on those children

we have helped, we know that our hearts have guided us to do the right

    thing.

Although the Paldorje Education Fund is supported by Sherpa Adventure

Gear, we always welcome kindness of friends.

To us, corporate responsibility begins with

being an honorable citizen, a loving parent, a

caring friend and a compassionate employer.

Since the beginning of Sherpa Adventure

Gear, it has always been our goal to make a

positive difference for those who need our

help the most. Since many Sherpa climbers

are gravely injured or lose their lives while

working in the mountains, we give a portion

of every sale to the Paldorje Education Fund.

In this way, we provide for scholarships and

    much-needed programs to benefit Sherpa

    children.

genuine kindness to the families of Nepal.

My own family comes from the Paldorje clan,

one of the first to settle in the Khumbu Valley

In 2009, we established the Paldorje

    Education Fund to support underprivileged

Sherpa children. Our vision is to make a

difference in their lives through education. I

am here today because I had the privilege to

    receive an education.

It warms my heart to think that the children

profiled in these pages could one day bedoctors, engineers, nurses or even designers

working for an outdoor global brand.

Two years ago, I was a full-time teacher. As

a Teach for Nepal Fellow, I lived in a remotevillage, which was five hours’ bumpy bus-ride

away from the Kathmandu Valley. I worked at

    the local government-run school.

Teaching English to the village children

for two years changed my life.

I learnt firsthand how enthusiastic the

students were to learn new ideas and

concepts, but how scarce and limited the

resources were to help them get more out oftheir school hours. I saw how life’s outcomes

could be dramatically different between those

who went to school and finished it, and those

who did not or could not. I felt the need to

provide good learning environment to those

who could then use education to develop

skills that would help them move out the trap

of limited opportunities that were all around

    them.

In short, I came to value education as

the path to reach one’s full potential as a

    human being.

These lessons were on my mind in early 2015,

when I started looking for jobs at the end of

my teaching fellowship. I wanted to work for

a company that gave back to the society. And

the more I learnt about Sherpa’s Pal Dorje

Education Fund, the more interested I was to

manage it with care, passion and rigor.

Since its inception, Pal Dorje Education

Fund has selected, supported and cared for

more than 25 needy school children whootherwise would not have had the

    educational opportunities that they receive

today. The Fund is now making plans to

spend a por tion of the Earthquake Relief

donations to rebuild a rural school.

Looking ahead, with your contributions and

our hard work in the field, we could do much

more in times ahead for the children who

    deserve a better future.

Thank you for your support .
