DOYOUBELIEVEINWEREWOLVES?Ido!About10yearsagowhiledrivingthroughtheMidwest,Isawtwoabnormallylargepurewhitewolvesonthesideoftheroad(oneeatingroadkill).Thesightwasstartlingandunusual.Itdefinitelymademequestionwhatelsemightbeoutthere.
HOWLONGDIDTHESHOOTINGTAKEPLACE?WeshotduringthefallbetweenAugustandSeptember.Ittookjust6daysoffilmingfrom11amtodusk.
WHATWASTHEMOSTDIFFICULTSCENETOSHOOT?Thelastdaywasadiffucultday,moresoduetoweather.Wewereshootinganouthousesceneonanexceptionallycoldfallday.Therewaslightsnow,andwewereallsittingdownontheconcrete,freezingasweworkedoutthisscenetoperfection.
WHEREWASTHEFILMSHOT?Thefilmisshotinavarietyoflocations.IliveinthePullmanHistoricDistrictinChicago,sosomescenestakeplacerightoutsidemydoorsotospeak.WealsoshotatStarvedRockStatePark,Peoria,andNaperville,IL.
WHATDOYOUHOPEPEOPLETAKEAWAYFROMTHEFILM?Imeantforthefilmtoserveasamirror.Regardlessofyourbackground,politicsorcreed,Iwanttheaudiencetowalkawaythinking,perhapsevaluatingthemselves,notthefilm.

WHYSHOOTACINÉMA VÉRITÉFILM?Idecidedtoshootthisfilmcinémavéritéafterencounteringquiteafewsetbackswiththebudget.Therewasliterallynomoney,justanideaandascript.Ithoughttomyself,“Ijustwanttoshootthisthing,andIhavealottosay.”Itworkedoutforthebest.Ifthefilmhadbeenshotasaglossyproduction,itwouldhavelackedtherealismIwasgoingfor.
WHATWASITLIKEONSETWORKINGWITHTHECAST?MostdayswerespentwithHeather,Nixon,andRichardoutsideintheelements.Theyweresuchtroopersenduringtheunpredictabletemperatures,mosquitos,andearlysnow.Theymadeitfunandeasy.
