PAPER BAG COSTUMESRoman Soldier

The basic element of the costume is attainedby cutting a hole in the bottom of the bagfor the student’s head and arm holes in thesides. For the Roman soldier, make addi-tional cuts along the bottom (the dashedlines). To create the shoulder flaps, cut thosesame shapes out of another bag, staplingthem on the bottom of the bag through thehead hole. Complete by painting on thearmor.

PAPER BAG COSTUMESEgyptian Royalty

The basic element of the costume is attained by cutting a holein the bottom of the bag for the student’s head and arm holesin the sides. Cut a large arc and a head hole from a secondbag as shown. Paint the first bag white and the second piecegolden with jewels to mimic an Egyptian breastplate. Placeboth elements over the child’s head.

PAPER BAGCOSTUMESElizabethan Coat

The basic element of the costume isattained by cutting a hole in the bottomof the bag for the student’s head andarm holes in the sides. Cut long stripsfrom a second bag and staple aroundthe arm openings on both sides. Using aside panel from the other bag, staple“cuffs” to the narrow strips. Cut an open-ing down the front of the costume andpaint a lace collar on the top.Shakespeare never looked finer!

PAPER BAG COSTUMESIrish Monk

The basic element of the costume is attained by cutting ahole in the bottom of the bag for the student’s head andarm holes in the sides. Paint a cross and rope belt on thebag. Cut a second bag as shown, shortening it to fit the stu-dent’s head, then staple the bag around the head hole to cre-ate a monk’s hood.

PAPER BAG COSTUMESParty Invitations

On the following two pages are invitations for your celebrations. The first is for a costumeparty. For that invitation, print out the number of invites you need then fold on the dottedlines, ending with the mask being on the front cover. For the ancient world banquet, printout the number of invites you need then cut out the envelope shape, folding on the dottedlines (left and right sides first) then fold the bottom and tuck in the top flap.
