Lunch with a Legend News
On Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan, this year’s 8th grade boys
and girls began our educational and inspirational program
called "Lunch with a Legend." Students will IY”H gather
each Rosh Chodesh for a special brunch and learn together
with someone who lived through the period of the
Holocaust. Through teaching the students Pirkei Avos and
sharing with them a piece of "their story," a life changing
bond is formed between these "Legends" and our
students. This month, the boys were privileged to spend
time with and learn from Mr. Izzy Starck. Mr. Starck, a
Holocaust survivor, and author of "A Boy Named 68818" is
a proud past parent and current grandparent of many Arie
Crown Talmidim and Talmidos. We wish him, together with
his Eishes Chayil, continued Gezunt and Nachas and thank
him for all he does for our school. The girls were privileged
to spend time with and learn from Rabbi Levy Van
Leeuwen, who shared his experiences in the Holocaust as a
young child in Bergen Belsen. While he spoke of the many
hardships he and his family encountered, he also recalled
the numerous miracles that saved him and his family. He
inspired our Talmidos with his message of everything is in
Hashem’s hands and we must have strong Bitachon and
enduring Emunah. We thank Rabbi Levy Van Leeuwen and
wish him and his wife, Reva, continued Nachas from their
family.
2nd Grade News By Ms. Daybook
The boys in Ms. Daybook's 2nd
grade class have been working so
hard on being respectful,
responsible and safe. All of the
boys earned so many positive
office referrals. To celebrate all
that the boys accomplished the
boys voted to have a pajama
party. The boys
had such a great
time!!!

4th Grade News By Ella Jankovits, Nesya Goldman, and Goldie
Friedman
In Mrs. Dubovick's
4th grade class,
we had a fun time
experiencing the
Middos Matter
program. See our
proud girls
holding their well
earned tokens.
We are having a good time earning tokens. We are
learning our fourth Ivrit list and our fourth key words
list. We are so excited to be learning a new subject,
Be’ur Tefillah. We began Perek Bais in Chumash and
we are learning Rashis by heart. We are moving so far
in our Chayeinu. We are learning new songs to help
us with the Shoftim. This Shabbos is Rochel Imeinu’s
yahrtzheit. We will do a beautiful project on Rochel
Imeinu—Check it out next week in the Yediot. Hope
you have a good weekend.
5th Grade News By Ariella Titievsky
This week in Kittah Heh, we had our first Madreigos
program. It was so much fun. We finished our Inyan
(topic) in Chumash! We had our Siyum last week on
Friday. There were snacks, decorations and a D’var
Torah—it was a blast! We also started a new Middos
Matter program—if a teacher catches you doing
something good, you get a token and get entered
into a raffle.
2nd Grade News By Mrs. Abrams
Mrs. Abrams's 2nd grade girls completed their social
studies unit all about
communities this week. They
learned all about rural,
suburban, and urban
communities. To finish up the
unit, the girls had a culminating
activity where cards were
placed all over the classroom
that provided clues to
different types of
communities. Working with a
partner, each team decided
whether each card described
an urban, suburban, or rural
community. The girls were
able to show all that they had
learned
while
also
getting
to work
with a
friend.

1st and 3rd Grade News By Mrs. Stein
1st and 3rd Grade Reading Partners
Last Thursday, Mrs. Stein's 1st-grade class partnered
up with Mrs. Glickman's 3rd-grade class to practice
their reading skills. First, the first graders used
different reading strategies to figure out hard words
as the 3rd graders coached
them. Afterward, the partners
switched and the 3rd graders
practiced their read-aloud skills
to read interesting stories to
their first-grade partners.
MIDDOS MATTER CORNER
Arie Crown's Middos Matter school-wide initiative is
off to a great start! “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be
Safe” is our theme.
Heard in the playground: “The playground is cleaner,
with less trash, since the assemblies this week!!”
* * * * * ALL STARS!! * * * * *
As part of our new Middos Matter program, teachers have
been writing positive referrals for students showing off
their Respectful, Responsible and Safe behaviors around
school. Every week, we randomly select 5 students from
the All Stars to see Rabbi Samber and receive a small
prize. Congratulations to last week's winners!

Dear Families,
The Box Tops for Education program is changing the way we can earn cash for our school!
Over the summer, participating brands have begun to change their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label.
Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The Box Tops for Education team has worked hard to build a NEW-and-improved, user-friendly Box Tops mobile app, available now.
The new app features state-of-the-art technology that allows you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online.
If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products.
Thanks for helping our school get what it needs!
BE SURE TO DOWNLOAD THE NEW APP OR UPDATE YOUR EXISTING APP:
