Yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yw un o wyliau celfyddydol mawr y byd ac mae’n denu tua 150,000 o ymwelwyr bob blwyddyn.

Mae’r Eisteddfod yn wyl deithiol, sy’n ymweld â gogledd a de Cymru bob yn ail, gan roi cyfle i drigolion gwahanol rannau o’r wlad roi cartref i’r wyl ac elwa o gyfle arbennig i hyrwyddo ardal fel mangre ymwelwyr cofiadwy.

The National Eisteddfod is one of the world’s greatest cultural festivals and attracts around 150,000 visitors every year.

Businesses in different parts of Wales can benefit from the fact that our leading festival travels around the country, alternating between north and south Wales.

The Eisteddfod is the ideal opportunity for the local area to benefit economically and culturally during the period before the event, during the festival itself and following its visit, by encouraging Eisteddfod goers to return to the area in the future.

–––– A community project across a set catchment area which lasts for two years

–––– A cultural festival, held through the medium of Welsh, which provides a national stage for music, dance, the visual arts, original performances, family activities and all kinds of competitions, in a welcoming, fun and unique environment.

–––– A festival which lasts for 8 days at the beginning of August. The location changes every year, alternating between north and south Wales.

–––– A colourful Maes with a pavilion as the focus for the competing and the ceremonies, with hundreds of activities happening across the field.

–––– Over 300 tradestands and an Exhibition Hall full of crafts, jewellery and artwork.

The Welsh language is an integral and important part of the Eisteddfod, but the festival is much more than a Welsh language event. You don’t need to speak Welsh to get involved and make the most of the Eisteddfod’s visit, but why not find out more about how to offer a Welsh and bilingual service, and make the most of the help available to get you started?

The Eisteddfod works in partnership with the Welsh Local Government Association to plan the festival’s locations over a number of years, and we work closely with the local authorities in the catchment area for at least two years before the Eisteddfod is held. We announce the decision to visit an area two years in advance, and the committees and fundraising structures are put in place and the local work begins. The Eisteddfod costs £3.4–3.6 million to stage, with a target of around £300,000 for the local fund.

This pack is an introduction to the Eisteddfod, and outlines some of the opportunities available locally and how we can work together to make the festival a success. More information is available online, www.eisteddfod.wales, send us an email, [email protected], or sign up for our regular electronic newsletter online.

Make sure you’re part of the Eisteddfod’s visit to your area – it’s a great opportunity for the business sector – don’t miss out!

Mae’r iaith yn greiddiol a phwysig i’r Eisteddfod, ond mae’r Brifwyl yn llawer mwy na digwyddiad Cymraeg – mae’n cynnig rhywbeth i bawb o bob oed. Does dim rhaid siarad Cymraeg i fwynhau’r hyn sydd gan yr Eisteddfod i’w chynnig, ac mae’r Maes yn llawn o weithgareddau a digwyddiadau i’w mwynhau. Ond beth am fachu’r cyfle i ddatblygu’ch gwasanaethau Cymraeg a dwyieithog?

Rydym yn gweithio mewn partneriaeth gyda Chymdeithas Llywodraeth Leol Cymru i gynllunio taith y Brifwyl dros y blynyddoedd nesaf, a rydym hefyd yn cydweithio gydag awdurdodau lleol am o leiaf dwy flynedd cyn ymweliad yr Eisteddfod. Rydym yn cyhoeddi ein bwriad i ymweld ag ardal ddwy flynedd ymlaen llaw, gyda’r pwyllgorau a’r strwythurau codi arian yn cael eu creu cyn i’r gwaith lleol gychwyn. Mae’r Eisteddfod yn costio £3.4–3.6m i’w llwyfannu, gyda tharged o tua £300,000 i’r gronfa leol.

Mae’r pecyn hwn yn gyflwyniad i’r Eisteddfod ac yn amlinellu rhai o’r cyfleoedd sydd ar gael yn lleol, ynghyd â sut y gallwn gydweithio er mwyn sicrhau llwyddiant y Brifwyl. Mae rhagor o wybodaeth am bopeth ar wefan yr Eisteddfod – www.eisteddfod.cymru, a gallwch anfon ebost atom, [email protected] i dderbyn ein cylchlythyr electronig rheolaidd.

The Eisteddfod’s visit is the ideal opportunity to benefit from the visit of around 150,000-people to the local area, and independent research over a number of years shows that the festival has an economic impact of £6-£8 million on the local area during the week itself, with tourism and hospitality outlets benefiting most.

Thousands of visitors will flock to the area during the week, and everyone will need local knowledge and information about services and amenities. Register on our website to receive our newsletter with details of all our free promotional opportunities, which include:

Welcome Pack – you can include a promotional leaflet in the caravanners and campers welcome pack, distributed to all guests on arrival onsite. You are encouraged to ensure that translations are correct and accurate as we will not be able to include leaflets with glaring mistakes or errors. We can help with proofreading but are unable to offer a translation service.

Window dressing competition – we want our visitors and your local customers to feel welcome throughout the local area, so we’re encouraging local shops and businesses to get into the festival spirit with banners, posters and decorations etc in every window. This is an important element of our wider campaign to promote the area as a whole. Take part in our best dressed window competition, sponsored by the Womens’ Institute, and show your business’ support for Wales’ leading festival.

Ymweliad yr Eisteddfod yw’r cyfle perffaith i elwa o ymweliad tua 150,000 o bobl i’r ardal leol, ac yn ôl ymchwil annibynnol dros gyfnod helaeth, mae cynnal y Brifwyl yn rhoi hwb o £6–8 miliwn i economi’r dalgylch yn ystod yr wythnos, gyda’r sector dwristiaeth a lletygarwch yn elwa fwyaf.

Bydd miloedd o ymwelwyr yn tyrru i’r ardal yn ystod yr wythnos, a bydd pawb angen gwybodaeth am wasanaethau lleol a beth sydd i’w wneud yn yr ardal. Cofrestrwch ar ein gwefan i dderbyn ein cylchlythyr gyda manylion ein cyfleoedd hyrwyddo rhad ac am ddim, sy’n cynnwys:

Pecyn croeso carafanwyr – gallwch gynnwys taflen hyrwyddo ym mhecyn croeso carafanwyr a gwersyllwyr, a roddir i bawb wrth gyrraedd. Gwnewch yn siwr bod eich cyfieithiadau’n gywir gan na fyddwn yn cynnwys unrhyw daflenni gyda chamgymeriadau a gwallau amlwg. Gallwn eich helpu i ddarllen proflenni, ond nid ydym yn gallu cynnig gwasanaeth cyfieithu.

Cystadleuaeth addurno ffenestr siop – mae’n bwysig bod y croeso lleol i’w weld yn glir yn ystod yr Eisteddfod, felly rydym yn annog siopau a busnesau lleol i arddangos fflagiau, baneri, posteri ac addurniadau yn eu ffenestri. Mae hyn yn ffordd o hyrwyddo’r ardal i ymwelwyr a chwsmeriaid eich busnes. Cymerwch ran yn ein cystadleuaeth addurno ffenestr siop a noddir gan Sefydliad y Merched, a dangoswch gefnogaeth eich busnes i’r Eisteddfod.

A significant percentage of the economic benefit to the local area during the Eisteddfod goes to the tourism and hospitality sector, with people staying in hotels and guest houses, eating out and enjoying local amenities during their visit to the area.

Around 700 caravans and a large number of tents will be placed on the official caravan site next to the Eisteddfod Maes itself, and many more people will be looking for spaces at other local caravan parks during the week. Thousands more will also be searching for hotels, bed and breakfasts, guest houses, private houses and so on, providing ample opportunities for the hospitality sector in the region, as many people will book their accommodation well in advance.

If you are an accommodation provider, make sure your details are included on the Eisteddfod’s accommodation list. Complete the online registration form at www.eisteddfod.wales and your details will be published free of charge on our website and the list itself, which is sent to everyone enquiring about places to stay locally. You can also ring or send us an email with all your details.

Research undertaken with those staying on the official caravan and campsite during festival week shows that almost 70% of respondents spend at least one day exploring the area, so there’s a ready-made audience waiting to find out more about what’s on offer locally.

Almost 80% of respondents said that they like to take part in local activities when they come to the Eisteddfod and a resounding 96% want to receive information about local amenities when they register for the caravan site.

Mae canran sylweddol o’r budd economaidd lleol a ddaw yn sgil yr Eisteddfod yn mynd i’r sector dwristiaeth a lletygarwch, gyda phobl yn aros mewn gwestai, gwely a brecwast, bwyta allan a mwynhau gwasanaethau lleol yn ystod eu arhosiad yn yr ardal.

Bydd lle i tua 700 o garafannau a nifer fawr o bebyll ar y maes carafanau swyddogol, a bydd llawer mwy o ymwelwyr yn chwilio am feysydd carafan o fewn y dalgylch ar gyfer yr wythnos. Bydd miloedd hefyd yn awyddus i archebu llety mewn gwestai, llefydd gwely a brecwast, tai preifat ayb. Felly mae nifer fawr o gyfleoedd i’r sector lletygarwch, gyda llawer yn dymuno sicrhau llety ymhell cyn wythnos yr Eisteddfod.

Os oes gennych chi lety i’w gynnig, llenwch ein ffurflen gofrestru llety ar ein gwefan – www.eisteddfod.cymru – a bydd eich manylion yn cael eu cyhoeddi ar ein gwefan ac yn cael eu hanfon allan at unrhyw un sy’n cysylltu’n chwilio am lety yn yr ardal leol, yn rhad ac am ddim. Gallwch anfon ebost neu ffonio gyda rhagor o wybodaeth.

Dengys ymchwil gyda charafanwyr a gwersyllwyr y maes swyddogol bod bron i 70% yn treulio o leiaf un diwrnod yn crwydro’r ardal, felly mae cynulleidfa barod yn aros i glywed am beth sy’n digwydd yn lleol.

Dywedodd bron i 80% eu bod yn mwynhau cymryd rhan mewn gweithgareddau lleol yn ystod yr Eisteddfod, ac roedd 96% yn awyddus i dderbyn gwybodaeth am weithgareddau ac adnoddau lleol wrth gofrestru

Although the Eisteddfod is far more than a Welsh language event, many of our visitors are fluent Welsh speakers and translating signs and menus etc to Welsh will certainly create a positive impression, demonstrating the warm local welcome.

There are a wide range of free services available for businesses wanting to use Welsh. Why not get in touch with your local Menter Iaith (language initiative) to find out more? Your local Menter Iaith will also be able to give you information about the business services in your area to help you to offer a real Welsh welcome.

Contact the Welsh Language Commissioner’s Office to order ‘Cymraeg’ merchandise free of charge. ‘Cymraeg’ is a campaign to promote bilingual service, built around a simple and recognisable orange badge worn by staff who deal with the public showing that they can speak Welsh or are learning Welsh. The scheme’s symbol indicates to customers that a service is available in Welsh. The badge – in the form of an orange speech bubble – shows that spoken Welsh is a working language.

The Welsh Language Commissioner’s business team will alsom be able to advice you on how to use Welsh in your business in the future, helping you to ensure that you can offer Welsh or bilingual services for your customers or users. Contact details are in the back of the booklet.

We work with local Welsh for Adults Centres to offer a series of taster sessions for local businesses. These will be held in a central location locally, and their aim is to provide businesses with the tools they need to offer services bilingually and in Welsh. If there are a number of individiauls wishing to learn Welsh within a business or company, we can organise specific sessions in the workplace.

If you’re looking for something more structured and long term, your local Welsh for Adults Centre will be able to help, and local details are included in the back of this booklet.

Ask for a copy of our useful phrase book, Canllaw: A Guide for New Visitors – available free of charge from the Eisteddfod office or online – www.eisteddfod.wales. You can find out more about all the services for Welsh learners offered by the National Eisteddfod in the Maes D section on our website.

Er bod y Brifwyl yn llawer mwy na digwyddiad Cymraeg, mae nifer fawr o’n hymwelwyr yn rhugl yn y Gymraeg, a bydd cyfieithu arwyddion a bwydlenni yn ffordd ardderchog o gyfleu Croeso Bro’r Eisteddfod.

Mae nifer o wasanaethau rhad ac am ddim ar gael ar gyfer busnesau sy’n awyddus i ddefnyddio’r Gymraeg. Beth am gysylltu gyda’ch Menter Iaith leol i gael gwybod mwy? Bydd eich Menter Iaith leol hefyd yn gallu rhoi gwybodaeth i chi am y gwasanaethau busnes sydd ar gael i’ch helpu chi i gynnig croeso Cymreig go iawn yn eich ardal.

Cysylltwch â swyddfa Comisiynydd y Gymraeg er mwyn archebu nwyddau ‘Cymraeg’, Ymgyrch i hyrwyddo gwasanaeth ddwyieithog yw hon, gyda bathodyn oren sy’n cael ei wisgo gan staff sy’n delio gyda’r cyhoedd i ddangos eu bod yn siarad neu’n dysgu Cymraeg. Mae’r bathodyn yn dangos bod y Gymraeg yn iaith lafar sydd ar waith.

Bydd tîm busnes Comisiynydd y Gymraeg hefyd yn gallu eich cynghori ar sut i ddefnyddio’r Gymraeg yn eich busnes yn y tymor hir, gan eich helpu i sicrhau eich bod yn gallu cynnig gwasanaeth cwsmer Cymraeg neu ddwyieithog. Mae manylion Comisiynydd y Gymraeg yng nghefn y llyfryn.

Rydym yn gweithio gyda’r Ganolfan Cymraeg i Oedolion lleol i gynnig cyfres o sesiynau blasu ar gyfer busnesau lleol. Bydd y rhain yn cael eu cynnal mewn canolfan ganolog, gan roi cyfle i fusnesau sicrhau eu bod yn gallu cynnig gwasanaeth Cymraeg a dwyieithog i ymwelwyr. Os oes digon o unigolion mewn cwmni neu fusnes am fynychu sesiynau, gallwn drefnu sesiynau penodol yn eich gweithle chi.

Os ydych chi’n chwilio am rywbeth mwy strwythuredig a thymor hir bydd eich Canolfan Cymraeg i Oedolion leol yn gallu helpu ac mae’r manylion wedi’u cynnwys yng nghefn y llyfryn.

Gofynnwch am gopïau o’n llyfryn ymadroddion Canllaw: A Guide for New Visitors, sydd ar gael yn rhad ac am ddim o swyddfa’r Eisteddfod neu ar-lein – www.eisteddfod.cymru. Gallwch ddysgu mwy am wasanaethau’r Eisteddfod ar gyfer dysgwyr yn adran Maes D ar wefan yr Eisteddfod.

Over a period of 8 days, the 35 acre Maes is home to over 300 stands – businesses, craftspeople, charities, statutory organisations and many more choose to use the Eisteddfod as their ultimate pop up shop. With hundreds of activities of all kinds throughout the week and a large scale communications campaign to attract visitors, you too could be part of the Eisteddfod buzz and vibrancy – selling your product or service – developing your business and attracting new customers.

Our aim is to attract more shops, businesses and craftspeople from Wales to the Maes and to promote the Eisteddfod as a one stop shop for everything Welsh. If you feel that you and your business would benefit from this opportunity, get in touch. Stalls are available from 1 February every year.

Dros gyfnod o 8 diwrnod, mae’r Maes 35 acer yn gartref i 300 o stondinau – yn fusnesau, crefftwyr, elusennau, sefydliadau – ychydig o bopeth – mecca ar gyfer siopwyr – a’r siop dros dro orau y cewch chi byth! Gyda channoedd o weithgareddau o bob math yn ystod yr wythnos ac ymgyrch gyfathrebu gynhwysfawr i ddenu ymwelwyr, gallwch chi fod yn rhan o’r bwrlwm a’r hwyl i gyd – yn gwerthu’ch cynnyrch neu wasanaeth – yn ehangu’ch busnes a denu cwsmeriaid newydd.

Ein gobaith yw denu mwy o siopau, busnesau a chrefftwyr o Gymru i’r Maes a hyrwyddo’r Eisteddfod fel ffenestr siop i bopeth Cymraeg a Chymreig. Os ydych chi’n meddwl y gallai’ch cwmni chi elwa o’r cyfle hwn, cysylltwch. Gellir gwneud cais am stondin o 1 Chwefror ymlaen bob blwyddyn.

Llogi stondin yn yr EisteddfodTrading at the Eisteddfod

Why should you have a stand?–––– It’s an opportunity to promote your business to a wide

audience for a reasonable cost.–––– Customers are searching for different products and gifts

to buy, especially those made in Wales. –––– Some business receive commissions following having

a presence at the Eisteddfod.–––– People buy products throughout the year after seeing

businesses at the Eisteddfod.

The language and the EisteddfodOne of the main aims of the Eisteddfod is to promote the Welsh language and culture. At least one Welsh speaker is required on the stand at all times – this person can be an experienced learner or someone just starting to learn. All signs and leaflets have to be in Welsh or bilingually in Welsh and English.

Recruiting Welsh speaking staffIf you’re looking for temporary staff to help on your stand during the week, get in touch. We offer a free job advertising service on our website and via social media in the months up to the Eisteddfod itself.

GrantsSome organisations offer grants for businesses and crafts-people keen to take a stand at festivals like the National Eisteddfod. We play no part in the decision making process of these organisations, and cannot guarantee that you will receive any financial assistance towards exhibiting at the Eisteddfod. Get in touch with your local council to find out whether any local grants are available.

The next stepThe cost of a trade stand at the Eisteddfod Maes is very competitive and a great business opportunity. The prices are published on our website at the beginning of the year – www.eisteddfod.org.uk. If you’d like to discuss your company’s needs or requirements, send us an email – [email protected] – and we’ll be happy to help you choose the stand which works best for you and your business.

Pam cael stondin?–––– Cyfle i ddangos eich cynnyrch i gynulleidfa eang am bris

rhesymol.–––– Mae pobl yn edrych am nwyddau a chynnyrch gwahanol

i’w prynu, yn enwedig o Gymru.–––– Mae nifer o stondinwyr yn derbyn comisiynau yn dilyn cael

stondin yn yr Eisteddfod.–––– Mae pobl yn archebu nwyddau drwy’r flwyddyn ar ôl eu gweld

yn yr Eisteddfod.

Yr iaith a’r EisteddfodHanfod yr Eisteddfod yw hybu iaith a diwylliant Cymru. We work closely with Business Wales and the local authorities within each catchment area to identify and contact local companies and businesses who can offer the goods and services the Eisteddfod will require over the year. When work or contracts become available, we will invite local businesses who have registered an interest to quote for the work as well as our suppliers in other parts of the country, and opportunities are advertised on our website and through the council.

Our procurement opportunities are divided across the following categories, cultural elements, facilities management (general), facilities management (office), security, services, marketing and communications, technology, transport & logistics, venue & infrastructure, retail concessions.

We hold a ‘Meet the Buyer’ event locally in the autumn prior to the Eisteddfod to outline in detail the services we will require to buy in for the festival. If you wish to attend this event in your area, email [email protected] or complete the online form.

The catering contracts are awarded annually and details will appear on the Eisteddfod website during November. Contact us if you’d like to receive this information via email.

As one of the world’s largest cultural festivals, we have regularly attracted a substantial level of corporate sponsors, which have, in the past, included BBC, The Principality, HSBC, Boots, Kellogg and Classic FM. Our varied opportunities combining competitive, ceremonial and social aspects, has long appealed to businesses of all types.

What you will gain from our partnership

The National Eisteddfod is the highlight of the Welsh cultural calendar. Its reach and appeal is second to none. Media wise, it is the BBC’s largest annual outside broadcast after the Wimbledon tennis tournament, and is broadcast on TV, radio and online, in both Welsh and English for 150 hours during the week. Press coverage is also intensive and many of our sponsors benefit from coverage in both local and national press.

Our partnership will enable the Eisteddfod to develop further, offering additional opportunities for people in Wales and beyond to enjoy our language and our culture, both during the festival itself and as part of the community project over a period of two years.

Which package works for you?

Our opportunities are divided into three areas, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Each area has its own benefits for the sponsor, and we will tailor each package to your needs – an unique bespoke sponsorship programme to maximise your impact at Wales’ most vibrant festival.
