PEER EDITING POINTERS

I expect your papers to be polished and professional when you turn them in. Don’t be lazy. Take pride in your work and in the editing you do for others.

Look for simple mistakes.(there, their, they’re, your, you’re, are, our, comma usage, misspellings, double words, etc.)

Look for ambiguity or areas where more detail is needed.

Look for how quotes are integrated into the paper- REMEMBER:INTRODUCE-INTEGRATE-INTERPRET

Check for paragraph length. Paragraphs should be 5-7 sentences.

Look for a clear thesis, topic sentences, and transitions.

Look for formatting issues (MLA or APA where applicable)

Look for areas where you stumble over words.

Look for ways to make it more interesting.

Look for clear introduction, body, and conclusion.

Look for word choice.

Look for unclear or confusing organization of information.
