Firstly, I would like to thank my science teacher, Miss Ting Lang Ching for her guidance in explaining how to do my Peka Science 2009 entitle Unicellular Organisms and Multicellular Organisms portfolio.

The special thanks are also be given to my father and mother for their effort in teaching me how to download information from internet as well as their moral support. I think without their support, help and guidance, this portfolio will not be able to meet it success.

While, some organisms are so tiny that they can be seen under a microscope.

Example :

Bacteria Paramecium

These organisms are called unicellular organisms.

Unicellular organisms are living things that have only one cell only. Uni means one.

Discussion :The similarities of unicellular organisms

* Unicellular organisms are living things that have one cell only.

* Unicellular organisms have a body size that is very small. They are microorganisms which cannot be seen with the unaided eye and only be seen through the microscope.

* Unicellular organisms usually live in water or in wet places.

* Unicellular organisms carry out all the processes of life such as movement, feeding, reproducing, breathing and excretion.

* There are two types of unicellular organisms :

Unicellular Animals Unicellular Plants

Amoeba

Paramecium

Yeast Chlamydomonas

Euglena

Discussion :The similarities of multicellular organisms

* Multicellular organisms are living things with many cells.

* Like unicellular organisms, multicellular organisms carry out all the processes of life. Multicellular organisms are made up of various type of cells.

* Each cell has a different structure and carries out certain body function.

* There are two types of multicellular organisms :

Multicellular Animals Multicellular Plants

Hamster

Butterfly

Kitten

Fern

Spirogyra

Hydra

Discussion :Organization of cells in the

human body

* The human body is organized in the following way.

* The organizations of cells in this way enable multicellular organisms to carry out various processes life such as moving, breathing and reproduct.

*Cell Tissue Organ System OrganismCells performing a particular type of work in many respects

A group of similar cells that perform the same work

Different tissues may be grouped together to perform a particular work

A few organs work together to perform a certain function in a life processes

An organisms is made up of many systems and all systems work together to form an organ

* Organization of cells can be shown in the form of a ladder of hierarchy as shown below :

Conclusion

* Organisms can be classified based on the number of cells.

* Unicellular organisms are living things that are made up of only one cell.

* Examples of unicellular organisms are amoeba, yeast, paramecium, euglena, chlamydomonas and bacteria.

* Multicellular organisms are living things that are made up of many cells.

* Examples of multicellular organisms are spirogyra, hydra, mucor, human, animal and plant.
