Let’s remember those who are not as fortunate as we are because the holidays also bring the spirit of loneliness for many. A smile, a kind word, or a helping hand may make all the difference in someone’s life, not just during the holiday season but throughout the year as well. Hope you enjoy our final Buzz for the year, 2015!

Several FFA CDE contests were held at Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College on Saturday, December 5. Pelham FFA had members competing in the Tractor Operations & Maintenance, Job Interview, and FFA Quiz competitions. PCMS FFA member Vaidehi Patel competed in the FFA Quiz competition. Patel was quizzed on FFA History and Parliamen-tary Procedure. Patel won the event and will be awarded at the Georgia FFA Convention in April. PHS FFA member, Christopher Mercer competed in the Tractor Operations & Maintenance event. Contestants completed a 20 question exam, problem solving practicum, and maneuver a New Holland Workmaster 50 tractor through an obstacle course. The contest was judged by James Hunter, Area AG Mechanics Teacher. There were twelve students in the CDE and Christopher placed 8th. “In spite of the cold weather, I enjoyed the overall experience. I correctly answered the entire problem solving practicum and got most of the exam questions right,” said Mercer.

Blaze Beasley, PHS FFA member, competed in the Job Interview event. Beasley submitted a cover letter, resume, completed a job application, interviewed with a panel of judges and corresponded with a follow-up letter. Of the 12 state contestants, Beasley placed in the top four. “I improved a lot from last year. I feel that I could’ve done better, but considering the circumstances, I am thankful to have made it to the final round,” said Beasley. For more information, please visit www.pelhamffa.com. PHS FFA is a student organization striving to make a positive differ-ence in the lives of students through premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural educa-tion.

A Christmas Surprise

On December 16, PHS students and faculty enjoyed an impromptu performance by The Dream Girls (and a few guys) during HELO. It was a nice change from the daily routine and enabled everyone to get inspired by the sounds of Christmas. Thank you for all you do for this organization, Mrs. Hampton, and thank you, Mr. Mullins for sharing your musical talents with PHS.

PHS Band in Concert

The PHS Marching Hornets under the direction of Mr. Wes White have been busy marching and playing their own sounds of Christmas. They marched in the Thomasville, Cairo, and Pelham Christmas parades while playing Mr. Grinch. For more Christ-mas music, come out tonight to the PHS band’s annual Christmas concert at the

auditorium at 7:00. Hope to see you there!
