(4) Legalitas Standar CODEX
Berdasarkan Perjanjian SPS, standar Codex diberikan status sebagai acuan/referensi untuk harmonisasi internasional.
Berfungsi sebagai teks dasar untuk memandu penyelesaian sengketa perdagangan.
Anggota WTO diminta untuk mendasarkan langkah-langkah keamanan pangan nasional mereka pada standar Codex
Komite SPS dan TBT WTO tidak membedakan status standar, pedoman, praktek yang baik, rekomendasi, dll
